I converted my VW Rabbit pickup 1.6L diesel to run on veg oil
I just completed it this weekend. Drove to work today burning filtered waste veg oil from a chinese restaurant.
On Saturday, I posted a thread in the Lounge about it.

It was nice not to have to burn diesel with blood in it.
Okay, this bonfire is from three years ago; there's not much action in the automotive forum on Skins's island as compared with the automotive forum here.
I'm curious; two years later, would the engine still be okay?

How many miles per gallon of oil do you get? How bulky is the conversion? I heard it smells like french fries when you drive
Hmmm. Without knowing for sure, I sort of suspected it might stink of rancidity.

3. Mileage should not change.
What my mileage is now is unclear, as I am not sure of the accuracy of my speedometer. Rabbit diesels usually get 40-50 MPG. As for the oil, it smells like whatever was cooked in it. The stuff I am burning is from an asian restraurant.
My conversion is a bit bulky, as I used a large fuel filter and a fuel tank from a boat. But some kits are smaller. See the details here.

Well, the primitives don't like ethanol (despite that the European Union is all gung-ho for ethanol), ostensibly because it takes food off the market for the hungry--but really the primitives don't like it because George Bush is president--and so I don't see why the primitives would appreciate using food for oil in this instance either.
Think of all those poor veggies, murdered for oil.....
