Myrick wants Carter's passport revoked (NC Republican)
« on: April 17, 2008, 10:18:44 PM »
A North Carolina Republican member of Congress is calling for the State Department to revoke the passport of former President Jimmy Carter, who's been meeting, against the wishes of the U.S. Government, with representatives of the Palestinian terror group Hamas. Congresswoman Sue Myrick of Charlotte, speaking on the Jeff Katz Show on WBT Radio, says Carter's actions have made a lot of people in the House extremely angry. Officials with Hamas say the meeting with Carter will boost the group's legitimacy, despite criticism by the U.S. and Israel.

Good.  Someone needs to take the anti-American activities of that Presidential Bozo seriously.

I know President Bush, like those Presidents before and after him, will not take action.  No former president of the United States of America will ever be held in contempt (are you listening, DUmmies?).

Jimmy Carter is a lost soul trying to find his grave.  The fact he was President of the USA was a fluke.  He knows that.  Jimmy Carter is no Statesman.  Jimmy Carter is no intellectual.  Jimmy Carter is a peanut on the landscape of history.  He cannot be digested.  He will always be the ruffage in the turd.

Good. Of course the Dems will howl like mad.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

for some reason my husband was watching a movie on how the govt made pot a huge scandal with the public in the 30s and got it criminalized. but they showed Carter's campaign trail speeches about legalizing marijuana and how that won over a big faction of the hippies and helped him take office. once he was in office, he had someone high up in his administration busted for drugs. so with that, he started felling the pressure and had to turn tough on drugs and it was just but one reason for his downfall. granted, the movie was narrated by Woody Harrelson, a known hollywood celebrity for legalization. the movie is fairly bad, but they show both sides of the political angle and oddly enough, it was mostly liberal presidents who caused all the laws to be written and enforced with such severe penalties. one kid in the 70s got life for one joint and under Clinton the jails were filled with more potheads than at any other time in history.

i just found the Carter video clips to be entertaining.. a guy in a suit and tie, and that slow southern drawl, saying some drugs should be decriminalized. i'd love to hear what he thinks about it all now.
