Religious people ‘plagued with guilt’ over sex, study says
   
The more religious people are, the less they enjoy sex. And, accordingly, atheists have much better sex than religious people.

That’s according to a new study from Kansas University, which found that religious people are “plagued with guilt” during and after sex. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports, atheists feel much better about themselves, even though both groups carried out the same activities, including masturbation, oral sex, watching porn and having affairs.

“Our data shows that people feel very guilty about their sexual behaviour when they are religious,” Ray told the Daily Mail, “but that does not stop them: it just makes them feel bad.”

From the report:

All of the people who were questioned were found to have sex around the same number of times a week. They also became sexually active at similar ages. But devoutly religious people rated their sex lives far lower than atheists. They also admitted to strong feelings of guilt afterwards.

Strict religions such as Mormons ranked highest on the scale of sexual guilt. Their average score was 8.19 out of 10. They were followed closely behind by Jehovah’s Witness, Pentecostal, Seventh Day Adventist, and Baptist. Catholics rated their levels of sexual guilt at 6.34 while Lutherans came slightly lower at 5.88. In contrast, atheists and agnostics ranked at 4.71 and 4.81 respectively.

I would think it would be just the opposite. Religions all preach that sex is within the confines of marriage meaning that you have one partner for life. So if you live by that rule I can't see any reason for feeling guilt over sex. The only time I ever felt any guilt over sex was when it wasn't in a monogamous relationship.

Of course now, if the people they surveyed were all cheating on their spouses then that would explain the results.

3. So many of the uber-religulous types seem to hate
   
the physicality of their own humanity - any sensory pleasure of any kind is EEEEE-VULLLL. I guess that's what drives them to deny the truth of evolution as well. We are the human ANIMAL no matter what they want to believe. Too bad that they can't accept the truth and just deal with it.

I'm an agnostic and I don't view humans as just an animal. Humans have abilities that no other creature on earth has.
And this notion that religious people are against anything pleasurable is wrong. They just assign responsibility with that pleasure, like being married and so forth. The DUmmies on the other hand think humans should be like animals and screw anyone that catches their eye.

I expect that's the essence of the problem; they didn't really measure what they thought they were measuring (Or at least as it was reported).  I expect the guilt concerned primarily the circumstances which led to and culminated in the sex, more than the sex itself.  For that matter the atheists and agnostics don't exactly seem to have had completely clear consciences, either.

What a pant load.  This is the same as saying a liberal funded study found that liberals were smarter/happier/more secure/...

We all know that liberals are some of the least happy at whatever is going in their life than conservatives. We are the glass is half full and they are the glass is half empty people.  For proof I present the insane asylums of DU, KOS, HuffPo... Not a really happy person there in unless they are spouting hate of a conservative or glee of some malady in a conservative's life.

I have to wonder who exactly these folks are polling. No pun intended. While I'm just a fictional spirit-guide I am a Baptist fictional spirit-guide. I have great sex (my wife might not, but I do my spirit-guide best). I don't feel any guilt.

:-) It's funny, but it's also true in a lot of cases. I asked someone once what the big deal was about dancing and got told how wrong it was. Then I asked about them dancing in the Old Testament. The conversation ended because that was different.

Believe it or not I've actually attended two Baptist dances. One when I had just turned 19. I spent all my time at that one dancing with the older ladies because one of them mentioned something about liking the old music. I brought out my box of tapes of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chubby Checker, etc. and cut the rug with the chaperones.

Honestly, guilt is not a wholly bad thing.  When we do something wrong, we should feel guilty. Yes, it is bad if you are so crippled by guilt that you are miserable, but that situation would likely have its roots in some sort of mental illness. 

If somebody has an affair and feels no guilt over it, then that person likely isn't somebody I would care to associate with.

Libs, like the boy primitive, are constantly trying to pigeon-hole conservatives into being viewed in a way that can make them feel superior.  It doesn't work, but it doesn't stop they from hoping something will eventually stick.  Why they feel the need to do this is a study unto itself, but it does explain at lot of their inability to remain focused and to move legislation to their favor at the pace in which they desire it to happen.

OTOH, we don't have to make up things about them, they parade their inferiority and stupidity in front of us everyday.  We just C&P it.

I just had to look into this a little... it appears that ALL the respondents had left their religion at some point in the past, most at adolescence.

So, they posted this survey on an atheist site, http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/ , and questioned only atheists that had once belonged to some religion.  Most were very young, under 35, and many had left their religion at adolescence.  So the questions absolutely did not at all consider people who remained religious, and obviously very few inside long term marriages (if any at all.)  So this mind-blowing survey pretty much boils down to "Do religious adolescents sometimes feel guilty...and do they get over it as they grow up?"  Wow, no wonder this guy was able to obtain exactly the results he expected.   ::) ::) ::)
