Just got back from town and caught the live feed from WDAF on Fox News. We used to live at the top of a hill up on Indianola Drive in Kansas City North. I remember how mean storm clouds can look off to the west. And I remember the '57 tornado in Ruskin Heights in Kansas City.

Keep safe guy. We dodged a bullet last night, hope you folks do, too.

I also remember Ruskin Heights. I was just a kid. that night i was staying with grandparents. they didn't have a basement so we stayed all night with the neighbors. what a disaster !!!

May 19, 1957 – The Ruskin Heights Tornado
On May 19, 1957, a F5 tornado roared through the Kansas City suburb of Ruskin Heights.  Over the next two days, 57 tornadoes were reported from Colorado to the Mississippi Valley, killing 59 people, 44 from Ruskin Heights alone.

In Crete, IL, in Crete Township (not the village itself) about 30 miles south of blammoville, in Will County.

Right now we're Cretians, but when we move away we'll be Ex-Cretions!  :rotf:  :rotf:  :lmao:

Had some definite rotation in north-central MO and a few reported tornadoes, but nothing actually touched down AFAIK. Mrs E, who works in Columbia, MO, is "in charge" of her building, so she herded everybody together on the 1st floor and hunkered down.

That line of storms that went through here looked ugly......

Seems to be okay now.

Didn't spend the whole year drunk....but I was a junior/senior in college...and turned 21 at the end of the year.  :whistling:

A rancher buddy of mine lives east of there and, along with other farmers, is donating hamburger to shelters that can accept it.  His families' houses are gone, but all are okay.
