Trump not running for president
« on: May 16, 2011, 12:08:00 PM »
It would have been interesting.

Trump not running for president

By Domenico Montanaro, Political Reporter, NBC News
Real estate mogul Donald Trump will not be a candidate for president in 2012.

Here's the full statement below. More to come.

For Immediate Release:
New York, New York: May 16, 2011
After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.

I want to personally thank the millions of Americans who have joined the various Trump grassroots movements and written me letters and e-mails encouraging me to run. My gratitude for your faith and trust in me could never be expressed properly in words. So, I make you this promise: that I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician's thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country.

I will continue to push our President and the country's policy makers to address the dire challenges arising from our unsustainable debt structure and increasing lack of global competitiveness. Issues, including getting tough on China and other countries that are methodically and systematically taking advantage of the United States, were seldom mentioned before I brought them to the forefront of the country's conversation. They are now being debated vigorously. I will also continue to push for job creation, an initiative that should be this country's top priority and something that I know a lot about. I will not shy away from expressing the opinions that so many of you share yet don't have a medium through which to articulate.

There's more:

He had to make a decision by today, to NBC, as to whether or not to continue his Apprentice show.

There's nothing to stop him from getting back in later, once next fall's Apprentice is over with, unless NBC waits until spring 2012 to put it on the air, then it would probably be too late.

Apparently, NBC threatened to recast the show--probably with Joan Rivers. :o

Well, I know nobody is gonna listen to me but I'm gonna say it anyway:

Every four years we elect politicians, then we piss and cry for four years vowing to vote the bums out, then four years later we vote for another politician. Then when a new guy comes in, a Trump or a Perot, who is NOT a politician and who knows business, what do we do? Trash him, throw him under the bus, then elect another politician so that we can bitch about our new politician for ANOTHER four years.

You know what's gonna happen? We're gonna get some hack who may or may not beat Obama, then you're all gonna complain for yet another four years about whoever gets elected. And I'll be right here with a big fat "I told you so" when you do.

Trump cannot beat Obama. Besides, he dropped out. He markets bullshit. Businessman? What does he produce? To me he's a glorified investor with a personality. Almost his entire industry is based on popularity and, sorry, you can't run a country based on popularity. How's it working for Obama? We need someone who makes the RIGHT decisions, decisions that, not only affect his own pocketbook, but thousands of people subordinate to him. We need someone that has taken care of employees. That's why I say, when it comes to business? Herman Cain > Donald Trump. I don't give a rat's ass about how much money Trump has. He's probably lost just as much and wrote off millions in bankruptcy as well.

Trump cannot beat Obama.....

You see, I don't neccessarily believe that. It is so damn REFRESHING to hear a man talk like a normal human being instead spewing out the correct political crapola, that it may well be that people would lap it up. I know I did. I want my guy to be freeking NORMAL, and politicians are not normal. I mean, come on man, keep it real: Do you hang out with anybody that talks like politicians do? They're like from freekin' Mars or something. Oh sure, some are nice guys, like a Ronald Reagan, but even the good guys never actually say what they think.

To be fair, I DO give points to Herman Cain for that: He probably speaks like the most normal person running

In Cain's case, it's what you're NOT hearing that's important.

You're not hearing bullshit. You're hearing straight talk the likes of which Juan McLame never could appreciate, understand, or practice. You're hearing honesty and simple, unrefined responses to questions that are designed to trip up the politician who's answering them.

You're not hearing verbosity the kind that Biden can only practice.

You're not hearing grandiosity the kind that Romney says.

Cain is a breath of fresh air in a room full of farts.

What's with the f'n negativity? The Tea Party is running shit now. People are PISSED. Probably would have happened just as you describe had it been a "regular" Dem in office and not some idiot Marxist hellbent on destroying this country, befriending our enemies, alienating our allies, and driving our economy off into a ravine.

The United States is already at war with China.

Think about this. The Soviet Union designed weapons to destroy the US.
But it never took millions of American jobs. It couldn't. It never launched massive cyber-attacks
against our computer networks.

China is designing and putting in place weapons to destroy the US.
It has put in place missiles to sink the aircraft carriers in the US Seventh Fleet,
(the same carriers that are protecting Chinese shipping to the US).

By its currency manipulation, it has left large swaths of America destitute and jobless.
Our kids go into debt for their education. They graduate. And they can't get jobs.
Their future is gone.

http://irps.ucsd.edu/assets/001/501361.pdf

Thanks to the above report, it's now documented that the net effect of trade with China has been disastrous for the US economy.
And if the present economic policies continue - America will never recover - without a large war.

But even IF trade with China was beneficial - should the United States be trading with its sworn enemy?

That used to be considered treason.

Trump was the one candidate who got it. And he knew how to address the problem.

He may have had many flaws. But at least he could spot the obvious.
I pray another Republican will adopt his position on China. But I doubt it will happen.

As I said before, if you're right I'll be the first to cheer.

But my negativity comes from the fact that we are over a year away from the election and Republicans are already eating their own young.

I never could get past all that money he gave to people we despise (democrat politicians).  And anybody who says "Nancy Pelosi is the greatest!"  has lost me.
