Custer County Sheriff Resigns Amid 35 Felony ChargesARAPAHO, Okla. -- An Oklahoma sheriff has been charged with 35 felony counts -- including accusations of forcible oral sodomy, kidnapping, rape and perjury.
Michael Burgess resigned on Wednesday as Custer County sheriff amid the charges, which stemmed from a year-long investigation into the sheriff.
The 35 charges against Burgess include sexual battery, bribery of a public official, forcible oral sodomy, indecent exposure, kidnapping, 14 counts of rape in the second degree, rape by instrumentation and perjury.
