Hello to All
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:34:37 PM »
My name is Nicholas Jared.  I'm a graduate student in economics at Brown University with a research focus on developmental economics.  You can see my thoughts and those of my colleagues at our blog:   http://talkpoliec.blogspot.com/ --please follow us and help gain support

I am excited to be here and looking to contribute whatever I can to the site in terms of econ/policy.  I recently went on a posting spree on the DU taking loads of criticism from the close-minded posters over there, so I hope that this community proves to be a bit more welcoming.

Welcome to CC!  I trust you'll get a far better reception here than you did at DU.

Too bad they wouldn't listen. However, if they did, we would lose a whole section of comedy gold on our site.  :)

Welcome, Intel...while Brown is regarded as a fairly liberal university, it's not all liberals and moonbats, I'm sure.

While we may not agree on some ideas, I'm sure a well-reasoned discourse will be more than welcome, and you'll be surprised at the breadth and depth of knowledge some of the posters here have.

And needless to say, there will be times we'll be picking your brain in your chosen area of expertise.

Welcome, Nicholas.  You'll find a much more, grounded, shall we say, discussion on economics here than you will at the DUmp asylum.  For example, the fact that there's no such thing as a free lunch.  Or pony.

Warm welcome to you Nicholas!  I don't get into the Welcome forum as much as I should and I'm glad to see you and all the others who've signed up right under my nose where I didn't see them.

I look forward to more of your posts.  Great job on Skins Island although it cost you the much ballyhooed granite cookie.

Hello, Intelligento, that was a most amusing DU thread.  While I'm sure you won't agree with the vast majority of the political ideas expressed here, I believe you will find us much more tolerant of differing opinions than DU.

But then again, Saddam Hussein was more tolerant of differing political opinions than DU...

BTW, it's "DAT" for short, both the moniker and the short version of it are Army slang terms for the chosen few, lucky enough to have served in America's elite armored fist.
