Nonsensical Goodwill Bouncy

So I Did A Silent Callout On a Republican Hypocrite
Edited on Sat May-07-11 04:25 PM by rsmith6621

....Anyhow this morning my wife and I drop off some items at Goodwill. We waited on the car in front of us as they were waiting for the clerk to get a tax receipt so they could write off the donation on their taxes. I happened to notice on their bumper a McCain/Palin,Dino Rossi for Governor stickers and a couple of other Republican campaign stickers as well.

Anyhow we went in to the store to browse around as we are looking for a cheap file cabinet...so the same person that was in front of us outside was now in front of us inside so I just said to my wife "isn't it funny that those who vote republican say they do so because they want less government but will take any tax breaks and loopholes from the government".

The lady in front of us face turned into a prune and she was doing her best to get out of the store quickly as possible, she paid for her items and walked away and I just said "enjoy your tax break"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1059750

Somebody help me out here. Seeking tax breaks and deductions is somehow inconsistent with wanting smaller government with lower taxes?

Is the dumbass saying conservatives should want larger government and higher taxes just so we could take advantage of more "tax breaks"?

 :asshat:

Also, are there really drive-thru lines at Goodwill, and if you're going inside anyway, why would you use them?

 :clueless:

Keep in mind, DUmbasses assume all money first belongs to the government by default and it is only through government beneficence can you obtain any thing.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

That one threw me for a loop as well for a minute.
Then I remembered, that DUmmies think all money belongs to the Govt so when you get a tax break that is like the govt handing you more money.
When in reality a tax break is the Govt taking less from you, so rational folks will realize that taking any tax break you can get is consistent with small govt principles.

Usually you drop off donations in the back of the store, where they usually have some nice folks waiting to help you unload. As far as I know if you walk in the front with a donation they will ask you to take it out back.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Bet his wife wanted to crawl up into a little ball and pretend she didn't know this loser! I would've been looking through the used t-shirts for one that said "I'm NOT with stupid. I know it looks like I am but really, he was standing by the side of the road with this dazed look on his face just picking his nose. So I felt sorry for him. I told him to get in, don't touch anything and keep his hands folded in his lap where I could see them and I'd drop him off at the next place he could get help. I took him to the shelter across the street but he followed me here." Except it'd probably have to be custom made and I'd have to be a double D to put that whole thing on there and I'd never marry anyone like that in the first place.

Yes there are drop offs at goodwill. In Texas we gave to Christian Community Action several times a year and they have a drive thru. Here in CA you drive around back and drop it off.

Oh and DUmb ass, we always get a receipt and claim it on our taxes. I bet you do too (if you even donate anything).

The DUmmies  drive around and pick up stuff left on the curb for garbage pick up and take it to donate then ask for receipts.

Didn't Bill Clinton donate some used underwear and claim a big deduction?

In previous returns, when Mr. Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas and his wife was a partner in a Little Rock law firm, the Clintons had gone so far as to deduct $2 for underwear donated to charities. The deduction was ridiculed by comedians and pundits, and the White House did not itemize the Clintons' $17,000 in charitable contributions on the 1993 return.

IIRC, the Clintons wrote off giving used underwear to some charity.  Oh and Slow Joe Biden gave a whopping $300 to charity in 2009.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

We made a donation of a brand new window to Habitat for Humanity, they insisted on giving us a tax receipt for the donation, we really didn't want it, we were just glad to get rid of the window, and we don't plan on using the tax receipt at all.

Bally, they might be required by law to give the receipts out--it probably helps them keep their tax-exempt status.

Sometimes.  Once I donated some of my old clothes in one of those donation boxes.  Didn't get a receipt.

Then again, it's amazing how quickly the DUmmies forget the Clintons and their tax "deductions" which included donated underwear.

I think this was uncalled for. I don't take tax breaks for charitable donations either, but I just don't see the reason for this mockery.

13. Makes sense to me.

If you're a Republican and want smaller government, one way to do that is to not fund it, then it can't do as much, either because it has less money, and/or because it increases debt, and thus spends larger portions of its available money in interest on the debt.

So from the perspective of wanting to defund government, getting every tax rebate possible is a good idea.

It's like you haven't been paying any attention at all to what Republicans have been doing over the past thirty years and more.

Who let these people in at the DU, and why aren't they over here with us making fun of these misfits?

I don't understand why anyone would not write off every possible dime of charitable giving. There's nothing noble about being overtaxed.

Incidentally, the "receipts" we get seem useless. I don't think I ever got one with a dollar amount on it. If you are audited, what purpose do they serve? I've never been audited, and don't even know anyone who's been audited.

Which would totally disprove the DU OP's assertion that the person donating was just being greedy and looking for the tax exemption. :-)

Oh, rsmith and his bouncies.  I nominated him for DOTY just because of them.  They always feature his wife accompanying him, silently.  He never gives her a speaking role in the script.  I suspect she doesn't exist.  They always make him look like the world's biggest asshole.  Nasty, aggressive, insulting to perfect strangers.  Unintentionally designed to make democrats look like petulent, sneering, petty bullies, willing to make loud snide remarks to old people in public places.

His bouncies make me cringe with embarrassment.

Some lurking DUmmie, please go back and tell rsmith that his tales make democrats and so-called "liberals" look really, really bad.  People will do anything to not be associated with you.  Like living and voting conservative.

A lot of DUmp democrats pay no income tax, but get EIC checks instead.

If they claim charitable donations, does it increase their EIC payment?
