To give HNC some credit, he is living where he can earn money doing something he likes.

Earning money enough to support oneself and one's family must be THE overriding consideration for anyone.  Unless they're DUmmies, of course.
No location on God's green Earth is perfect; the secret is to ferret out the treasures that abound there and make the most of them.  And to count the blessings, no matter how small.  For example, we always hated mowing the grass and now live in SE AZ, where yards are covered in gravel, not grass.  Sure, I miss the greenery, but I don't miss the weekly sweatfests! :cheersmate:

Allow me to extend an olive branch to HNC.  Look man, again, I don't "hate" California.  God knows I take enough shit for being from there.  I'm never gonna be part of "Red Sox Nation," a fact for which I thank God daily.

But I look at the changes just in the past 15-20 years (to say nothing of since the early 70's) and I'm absolutely saddened by the changes I've seen.  I see the exodus of idiots from CA to places like Nevada, Arizona, and Utah, and guess what they're turning to these days?Again, I wish that I could wave a magic wand and make it better, but the state is going to have to go bankrupt before people wake up to the failure that is liberalism, and perhaps they won't even wake up then.  I know you're not the only conservative person in California, believe me.

But I also know that conservatives outside of a few enclaves are hopelessly outnumbered, and given the emasculated entity that is the CA GOP, that isn't going to change anytime soon.  Look what the Assembly is doing, cutting off funding to districts of Republicans who don't play ball while gorging their own fat little piggies on the ever-dwindling tax base.

People talk about, "the big one," in terms of a natural disaster which will launch California into the ocean.  Me, I see something a lot worse--the implosion of the sixth-largest economy in the world, complete with the Greek-style riots (only worse) which will accompany it.  This is a disaster which will affect us all in ways we can't begin to imagine.  And woe be unto the idiotic CA politician (but I repeat myself) who thinks the Feds are going to bail them out.  Because if Governor Moonbeam thinks it's going to happen, he better up and declare right now because as of 1/20/13 they're going to be told to pound ****ing sand.  And if they do, future historians will point to that day as the day the Second American Revolution/Civil War began.  I don't want that either, because I know in my heart of hearts that if it DOES happen, it's gonna be a helluva lot worse than anyone wants to imagine.

All that being said, Dodgers ****ing suck.  Raiders suck worse.  And don't even get me started on their asshole fans.

Sparky, don't leave Idaho and Montana out of the equation.  My in-laws are mighty upset with the influx of idiots jacking up the prices of everything from bread and butter to houses thanks to the CA invasion.  Of course, we in Arizona also bear this heavy burden.  Now, if somehow it were possible to segregate all the liberal morons in CA and let the conservatives OUT to more conservative states, that would be one thing, but liberals aren't happy ****ing up one state, they want to extend their slimy tentacles outward until they pierce the very heart of America.  Thanks to Obama, that is happening at a frightening rate.  I think overall I'm GLAD I'm 52 and will hopefully be dead before common sense TOTALLY is in this country.  OTOH I fear for the future for my children and grandson.

Yup--and outside NYC and LA, there ain't a whole lot of options for those who pursue HNC's chosen vocation.  I'm glad he's good at it, but were he here I'd ask him if he'd be just as happy doing it out in BFE (that's Bumfukt, Egypt for those not aware) with the rest of us shit-kickers if he could realize the same success as he does now.

As for me, I'm always going to be in demand.  I may not make huge bank, but I'll do alright, and the money is pretty much the same wherever I choose to pursue my career elsewhere.

I'm just glad I never took that job at Brown's Ferry.  First the tornadoes, then the "Red Finding" by the NRC today:

And back to our regularlly scheduled topic.
