Indeed.  They have a whole thread over there going "**** you, Freepers, WE did it.  OUR side.  Yay for us, you can go to hell, etc. etc.  WE did it.  DEMOCRATS.  So stuff it."

No YOU didn't do it.  It was the Navy SEALs.  These are guys who aren't likely to lock themselves in the bathroom to have a good cry, such as OffWithTheirHeads, or wring their hands and hysterically melt down ala Pedro Picasso, or beg for gas and skydiving money on the internet, like StraightStory.  Real men, in other words.

H5, neighbor.

Also . . . as SSB pointed out in another thread, didn't they get the name of the courier in 2007?

Who was president then?

I'm sure many at DU will be running off to enlist to put their asses where their chest-thumping mouths are running lest they be thought of as chickenhawks (after all DADT is repealed).

Right?

I sure hope you're not holding your breath waiting for 'em...

I don't like pacifists and their phoniness. They don't bring about peace; they just leave it to others to defend them, since they won't defend themselves.

I'm certainly glad that ridiculous old twat Gandhi isn't around to babble about how he can't hate Osama.

62. I agree

I can't stand pacifist's and their smug self-righteousness. :puke: They use pacifism to claim they're so much more superior than anyone else. They stand aside all superior and self-righeous while others have to take on the bullies of the world. After someone else does the dirty work they stand there preaching about how much better they are because they don't believe in "that kind of thing".

And then there's this dick-head proving the exact point:

119. Wow, what an ignorant and offensive post.

Gandhi was willing to sacrifice his life using nonviolent resistance. He wasn't a coward, letting others defend him. Many who choose the path of non-violent resistance to injustice have been killed because of it. The real cowards are the ones who are willing to do anything, including slaughtering innocent civilians, if it might make them safer. Physical security is the highest value of the coward, and most Americans cowardly embrace murder for the sake of physical security.

Ganghi went up against a Judeo-Christian society that was unwilling to kill civilians in the name of empire.

UBL had no goal BUT to kill civilians in the name of empire.

Why are they talking about Obama's first year as president in the middle of this thread?

61. It wouldn't have taken that long and that much money if Bushie had the balls to make a decision back

in October/November 2001 when they had him surrounded and wounded in the mountains of Tora Bora.

The US Special Forces reported they had him pinned down and requested authorization to "take him out". Such authorization could only come from the POTUS back then.

Bush took too long, and 3 hours later, Bin Laden escaped to Pakistan.

In Sunday's special forces operation in Pakistan, President Obama told them to capture or kill him, no uncertain terms. He pre-authorized them to do whatever it took to end it there.

Edited on Mon May-02-11 06:53 AM by Bragi
You think it takes "balls" for someone sitting in the White House to order a killing? This is all about macho brave guys?

What nonsense. Anyone siting safely in a chair in the oval office can order up a killing without a lot of bravery being required.

Bush wasn't a coward, and Obama isn't brave. That isn't what is important here.

What's important is to udenrstand that this killing is just another day in the long-runnng horror show called US foreign policy in the era of fabricated global crises.

Wait. Don't jump. It's all just fabricated.

Weren't they the ones who've been saying for over a decade now that we should be going after Bin Ladin? Simply put, they just don't want the US to succeed at anything. And wasn't Seal Team 6 the one TiT invented during the Vietnam war when he was in Cambodia doing brave stuff?

Yeah, so Bush lost him at Tora Bora.  Comrade Billy Jeff had the Sudanese government offer him the head of bin Slapnuts on a platter 3 TIMES, and Da Schlickmeister LET HIM GO.  Not, "just missed him by 3 hours": told the Sudanese "Thanks, but no thanks".

Seriously, though, the White House claims the muslim watched the raid on TV in the Situation Room.
The SEALS almost certainly were wearing helmet minicams. That would be some great video if it's ever declassified.

This is all so much bullshit! - I don't believe a word of the OBL whacking!
Edited on Tue May-03-11 08:54 AM by Vinnie From Indy
The story that is being pushed very hard is that it has taken ten years to locate OBL and it was only after the CIA followed OBL's "couriers" did they locate the compound with it's 18ft barbed wire topped walls in the important military-heavy city of Abbattabad. We have been told, by some, that it was only the waterboarding of some suspects that resulted in the identification of his couriers.

Let's start with the couriers. If the CIA began torturing Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in 2003 and the torture was effective, would the CIA not have had these couriers names years ago. If they had ID'd the couriers in 2003 or 2004, why did it take so long for them to lead the CIA to Bin Laden? Did these couriers only begin to visit Bin Laden in the last few months?

It has been reported that Bin Laden was in the compound with a wife and a son. We are supposed to believe that the CIA was not monitoring these two people and that these family members were able to join Bin Laden in Pakistan with nobody noticing. I find it unbelievable that over the last few years that the CIA and other intelligence agencies were unable to verify the location of some of Bin Laden's closest family members. When they turned up missing, would not someone have tried to locate these people?

The compound itself presents many questions. The city of Abbottabad is a militarily significant city in Pakistan. It houses many senior and retired military leaders as well as a Pakistani military academy. One would think that several intelligence agencies would notice a compound that had 18' walls and barbed wire. If not foreign intelligence agencies noticing a compound like this, one would certainly believe that the Pakistani intellignce services would notice this compound in the midst of a relatively small city that was packed with former and current military and intelligence officers. It is simply unbelieveable that the Pakistanis would not notice this compound. The fact is that Bin Laden was being supported by elements of the Pakistani military or intellignce agencies.

To sum it up, the whole back story about suddenly discovering Bin Laden is simply unbelievable. I guess we will never know what really happened, but the current story falls flat IMHO.

24. That's exactly how I feel.
And I think it's a damned shame this needed to be moved to the dungeon. If this had happened on Bush's watch, you'd be damned sure that people here would be picking apart this story like crazy. But since it's Obama, only a handful are willing to question it, many others are probably too afraid to get lambasted. I think it's a good thing that Osama is dead, but the circumstances surrounding his death raise more questions than answer them.

The bu$h regime did not put much effort into catching OBL. They needed the boogie man to keep people scared. Bu$h said himself once that he didn't think too much about it.

2 1/2 years after Obama took office the mission was finally accomplished.

Yeah, that's gonna be the LIB meme for the next several decades.

I think that the DUmp monkiez suffer from too much SIT-COM watching. They think all the shit they see on TV is real, and all the solutions happen within the hour. Of course, they are crazy as all get out.
