Erf Day 2011
« on: April 22, 2011, 06:21:44 AM »
On the first Erf Day, the people "celebrating" it left behind over 400 tons of trash in Central Park and destroyed the greenery.

Let's continue that tradition, shall we?

I've done my part by killing a pretty tree and leaving it for the crew to chop up, clean up, and haul away.  See the thread in the Spa for photographic evidence.

Tonight I will BBQ spotted owls over a tire fire.  Then I will dump the entire contents of my FULL oil tank into the culvert.  Finally, I will get a quote to have my driveway resealed with evil petrochemicals.

How are YOU celebrating?

Driving my gas-guzzling pickup truck to & from work?? Might have a bonfire now that we've had some rain.

Make sure you throw a lot of extra gas on that wood.

Oh, let me count the ways.

My dishwasher needs a really good, really hot cleaning with lots of soap with phosphates but I cannot put dishes in while it's doing that.  I'll wash the dishes later in the day with said dishwasher.

I have a lot of laundry to do.  Lots of laundry.  Laundry that needs hot water.

Our lawn is really, really dry.  Since water conservation at this point in time is voluntary, I will turn the sprinklers on and leave them on all day long to give the lawn a really good soaking.

It's going to be very warm here as well and with all of the heat generated from the things above, I will need to turn the air down to 68 to keep the house extra cool.

Then this afternoon, I will start smoking lots of meat in the charcoal smoker, and it will need to be smoked for hours.

Too bad my husband is having the engine of his new 1974 Trans Am rebuilt.  Before we took it to the engine rebuilding place last week, it spewed blue smoke and leaked oil and antifreeze everywhere.  We could have taken that for a nice ride this evening.

Well, its time to empty my oil reservoir, so I just finished dragging that to the sewer drain.  Seems like a good weekend for a drive, so I think I will head to the coast with all my plastic six pack holders and toss em into the gulf.  Fish Jewelry!  And, of course while I am driving I will make sure to toss my trash out the window, and maybe a lit cigarette or two.

First I take my dogs for a walk and allow them to poop on the neighbors lawn.

Spring cleaning of the shed, all 15 years of half full paint cans and turpentine to be dumped in the sewer after dark. The cans of spray paint about a couple dozen Will go into the woods where the teenagers gather to do drugs.  I am sure they can find a use for them.

Don't get me going here, I have seen this done year after year by the good folk in town.  People wake up one morning and find discarded furniture on their lawns that they, the home owners have to pay to get hauled away.

Old junked cars somehow find their way into the river along side beat up stoves refrigerators out dated wood stoves and not to my surprise dumped medical waste from local hospitals, TVs and old computers.

Darn did I ever tell you guys about finding a couple of dog carcases in the marsh land about 1/2 mile down stream from a veterinarian's office?

BTW, forget BBQ of Spotted Owl, may as well cook up some Sea Gulls and river Poke, even the Native Americans would not eat them.

Make sure you turn the sprinklers on at about noon, when the ground is driest. That way most of the water runs off into the sewers rather than soak into the ground.

You could make it interesting and turn the air down to 60 and wear sweaters if things get a little too cool.

Then this afternoon, I will start smoking lots of meat in the charcoal smoker, and it will need to be smoked for hours.

Please tell me you're going to use wet pieces of hickory, so wet that you have to use an accelerant to keep the smoker going.

Well, you still can take it for a nice ride. Just loosen the oil drain plug just a hair, enough to get the oil to drip; do the same thing with the upper radiator hose while you're parked at Sonic getting your snack, and get back home just in time to put in the quart of oil you lost and that half-gallon of anti-freeze.

Laundry. Dishes. Might leave the fridge and freezer doors open for the hell of it. Going to drive around dropping off a couple job applications. Got a big cigar to smoke. Leave all my lights, the TV and the XBox on. I'm sure I'll think of other things to do to celebrate.

My husband has the day off, so we will drive our gas guzzler around.  What a better way to spend Earth Day.  I might even use that window chalk and write, "Happy Earth Day!" on my rear window.  Maybe do a few burnouts.  Carleigh giggles whenever we get the car sideways in gravel.  We could drive around doing that for entertainment.  The possibilities are endless.

The Price is Right did a special Erf Day episode today.

The prizes really sucked.

I missed most of the showcase and only watched a couple contestants.

They did have a really nice-looking boat.

I weedeated - a lot.  Mulched some old leaves.  Went to fill up the 5 gallon gas can.  Grocery shopped.  While at the grocery I took in my travel mug and got a free coffee at the Starbucks kiosk.

I'm thinking about getting the boat out and going out to murder some helpless sea puppies.
