I'd go find a local bank or a credit union.

I'm sure they would miss your 32 cents.

Why should I pay to get my own money? It's ridiculous.

There was a pamphlet with my statement today. It said they've been charging no fee for overdrafts under, I forget how much, maybe $25. But now they will start charging overdraft fees of $35 per item, up to 4 items in one day!

I thought some of the new laws passed were supposed to eliminate banks ****ing people over with overdraft fees.

You could try not spending it unless you actually have it. You would save a bundle on overdraft fees. Then again these geniuses think the govt should also spend what they don't have.

H5 on the post, Thundley.  So friggin true.  I still have a modest balance on my cr card, and of course after the democrats got done with their "fairness" legislation, they jacked up the interest rate, from a very low one.  Just to make themselves whole.  Thanks, Democrats! 

Anyway, keeping a check book is not really that hard.  It's simple arithmetic, adding & subtracting.  No calculus, geometry, or trig required.  How about not letting the balance go below zero, DUmmies?  You could save a fortune in those overdraft fees!  There's actually no excuse for an overdraft fee.  I think my Dad would come back to haunt me if that ever happened to me. 

ATM fees?  Just go to your own bank, what is the big deal?

And what the DUmmies don't realize is that your LOCAL one- or two-branch CU is going to be subject to the same fees as everyone else if you travel out of town.

One of the reasons I shifted my banking to a regional bank and closed up all my credit union accounts--that and the fact the CU (we'll call them NFCU for short) was getting as greedy as any bank with their fees and other assorted bullshit.

With debit cards universally accepted, why are ATM fees an issue? I go to an ATM once a month, or less, because I use my debit card for nearly everything. I haven't paid an ATM fee, nor any kind of identifiable banking fee, in years. The big deal would be if they start charging your account a per-transaction debit fee.

Newsflash--EVERYONE does it.  My bank currently charges $2 for any non-bank ATM transaction, in addition to whatever fee that ATM charges.  So if I go to a bank a block away from mine and pull $200 out of the ATM, that bank already nails me for $2.75, plus the $2.00 my bank charges.  So we're already pushing $5.00. 

Then again, if I go to Wally World and do my weekly shopping, etc., and pull $100 cash out on top of that, no service charges.  Viola!

My bank waives ATM fees (when using their ATMs) if you have a premium account with them. I am sure other banks have the same deal.

To any lurking DUches, this is all due to Bwarney Fwank, Chris "Waitress Sandwich" Dodd, and Pat "Leaky" Lehey, along with  Nanzi Pelosi and messiah Obama. What was it they said after passing the lie of financial reform?  We won't know what it does or some such.

Health Care Affordability Act equaled a 35% jump in premiums, 100%+ on copays, doubling of deductibles, rationing, and who knows what else.

Restoring American Financial Stability Act of 2010 equaled higher checking and ATM fees, no more free checking, no more free credit cards, higher credit card rates, and in general will cost Americans more.

The trick, dear lurking DUmmys, is that communists will always name their legislation the exact opposite of what it really will do.  Keep voting for the Liberals and find yourself in a modern day slave country.

Mine just imposed it.  And yes, they refund it back at the end of the month--if your daily balance stays above $5K.

Yeah, lemme just scrape out the change from between my sofa cushions.  I got that much right there... ::)

Sorry to hear that. Mine makes you have at least 25k in assets at the bank and that includes mortgages. The bank I use does not need to do a refund because I am not being charged in the first place. It is US Bank btw, I do not work there but so far they have been pretty fair as banks go.

My fairly large bank tried that crap with me. Fine. I went down there, took everything I had out of it and told them I was going to the smaller bank across the street and told them why. They back pedaled faster than Obama caught off teleprompter. Now keep in mind I got several CD's with them too. Not earth shattering amounts but more then $5,000 and less than $10,000.

People forget that banks are a business and they like to steal other banks customers... especially the good ones.

After that wonderful legislation that was obviously looking out for the little guy, HSBC sent everyone a letter saying that the free checking was no more.  $10/month or so fee, unless you had your payroll check direct deposited.  Closed my account and went to a local regional who has no such fee.   It's really worth it to shop around.
