Cops: School Bus Driver Charged With DUI While Heading to Work

Apr 19, 2011 – 11:19 AM

A school bus driver in Florida was arrested for allegedly mixing the classic kids tunes "99 Bottles of Beer" and "The Wheels on the Bus."

Police in Lee County say they cuffed 46-year-old Lane Tripp for drunken driving while she headed to work on April 15.

An off-duty sheriff's deputy reportedly saw Tripp's car swerving through traffic, so the cop tipped off uniformed police, WTSP reports.

Officers said they tailed the suspect until she parked her car at the Lee County school bus depot, where she was scheduled to work that afternoon as a driver.

During a field sobriety test, Tripp reportedly struggled to keep her balance.

According to deputies, the suspect -- who had bloodshot eyes and reeked of alcohol -- failed multiple Breathalyzer tests with blood-alcohol levels measured at 0.252 and 0.245. Florida's legal limit is 0.08.

Tripp has been charged with driving under the influence.

Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Isn't that just considered buzz driving up your way.  :cheersmate:

Really, whoa Nellie, with that kind of load I suspect this was not a first time thing although I have heard chronic alkies can and do blow higher while still being able to "function".  I knew one guy in the Navy who would belt down a whole bottle of vodka by mid day, mellow out with a few beers at lunch, then go home an get a real buzz on at dinner.  Back in the day the Navy would send that type to a facility to dry out.   :drunksailor:

Remember, it was the Portsmouth "hoochie-mama" who tried to board a harbor boat cruise and dropped her kid on his head.  Turns out she had a 0.49 BAC, and later she got nailed driving in (IIRC) Greenland with a 0.35 or so.

ETA: Found it.  From Newmarket, special education teacher (Pam???) in Seabrook, meaning, given the nature of most long-term "Brookahs", she really had her hands full.

Yeah, and because of this SINGLE bus-driver incident, all kinds of circle-the-wagon crap will be done to the entire bus driver licensing system to "prevent" such things from happening again.  :whatever:

Typical bureaucratic overreaction is bound to come out of this.

Sparky if I remember the story correctly, the Ex husband had been for a matter of a year or so trying to get custody of his child.

He had gone to court with records of his child's mother driving DUI with his child in the car, he had police records of other offences, yet the courts refused to turn the child over to the father. The father really feared for his child's life and NO COURT would listen.

Came down to her one day wanting to go on a river cruise and was so drunk she darn near dropped her child off the gang plank into the fast flowing river.

Interesting what came next, the father still did not get custody of the child. Big problem that we have no idea how it was settled---- We still do not know if she is still teaching somewhere, if she still has the child or if the father finally is raising the child.

A harbinger for men that divorce woman that are lousy parents , will the courts turn the child over to the responsible parent to raise or go the way of the mother no matter how bad should raise the child.

1--she had custody then.  She does not now.

2--she was a teacher then.  She is not now.

Had you clicked the link at the bottom of the link I provided, you would have found that out.

Sorry but our public news paper had gone into charging people to read their on line paper.  This paper that has become so small that the sligest breeze will blow it away from home delivery in the drive way is going down very fast.

Fosters is trying is best, has much more on line news and the actual paper delivered to the homes is a better deal.  When one reads their paper on line then they to find out more go out and buy the paper.

The Herald would do better to become an on line comunity paper.   Get into the video films as fosters have and get out of the paper business all together.

Times have changed, we now get our news from our computers and videos are a must.  Instead of a story that never gives the ending, I would be willing to pay a fee to follow it to the end.

What would I use on my morning beagle walk?  I take their crappy paper out then refill the bag.

I seem to remember a similar story locally recently but at the moment can't find it.

I agree Vesta, PPH expecting money is a bit of a reach.  Greedy liberals.   Of course the liberals around here are pretty much among the hoi paloi, many trustifarians, such hypocrites it is hard to imagine.

Perfect example:  Recently the liberal town council gave 45 parking spaces to teachers, at the expense of the church mouse poor waitstaff and scullery cooks who can ill afford the exorbitant parking and or tickets downtown. Waitstaff work odd shifts as you well know and don't make a fortune.  Teachers in P_town north are pretty well paid and could have been given parking on the outskirts of town and bussed to work.  The teachers and councilors might be advised to eat at out of town restaurants for awhile. ::)
