Oh my.

Okay, some might recall, vaguely, this campfire, which franksolich himself brought over here about the same time it was lit, back in September 2010; it finally got the attention of another primitive.

Do Pollsters IGNORE Deaf Voters?

I must get this off my chest and share them with you. Since I discovered POLL by phone, not websites. I wonder if the polling results (with many of them being a 4% margin for error) actually represents the population? Has any Pollsters ever use Relay Service to call Deaf voters? Has any Deaf Democrats and Deaf Republicans or Deaf (any other Party) ever received a phone call from any pollsters asking them questions on who or what they will vote for if the elections were held “today”?

I have never received any calls from pollsters. Just last week, I received a call from my energy provider company asking survey questions, which was suppose to take 12 minutes, ended up taking more than 30 minutes. Couldn’t this extra time be the reason why pollsters do not want to contact Deaf voters for their opinions?

1. Well, I have no idea how they choose people, but I've only gotten one call, ever.

And the poor guy who was calling was so grateful that I was willing to answer his questions. He said most people hang up on him...

Well, besides that polling is usually done by telephone, which presents some, uh, rather novel problems for the deaf, the other reason might be that the deaf are "statistically insignificant;" after all, those of Gheg and Tosk ethnic derivation in America considerably outnumber us.

franksolich doesn't worry about it.  franksolich worries only about showing up on election day to mark his ballot.

You know, my fellow alum Skins really needs to jump-start the deaf-and-hard-of-hearing forum; the above comment is only the second one posted there in all of 2011, whereas in the past, this forum was a beehive of activity and action; vast formidable hordes of primitives running around signing and muttering in rapid falsetto crescendo.

Now one has to battle the cobwebs to get through it.

The deaf-and-hard-of-hearing forum seemed to wither away about the same time it was first discovered, during our last few months at our old home in 2007; a coincidence, probably.

Tip to lurking primitives: if you want to get noticed by franksolich and other decent and civilized people, if you want to become a primitive star, if you want to become famously and widely known as a paragon of primitivity, post something in the deaf-and-hard of hearing forum.

Anything.  Please.

Golly.  Even less traveled than the Wyoming section.

I was driving one day behind a man and his wife who were having an apparently heated argument in sign language. It was city driving, so when we came to a stoplight, he would try to get in all his shots, then he drove on watching her sign in a state of great agitation. Texting would be much safer.

I've seen that a few times, not very often.

It can be really funny, much better than anything that could possibly show up on television.
