Who is this government jackass hollering that sleeping air traffic controllers

is "behavior we will not tolerate!"???

I hold them responsible for allowing working conditions where this could happen to any one of us.

He's making it sound like these people were just slacking off.

BTW, that Transportation Secretary LaHood.

14. Overworked employees in stressful jobs with no backup = sleeping on the job.

Slacking has nothing to do with it. Do a little research before you post something so stupid.

These clowns are overworked and stressed by handling a couple of flights on their shift? STFU and GBTW.

2. They were

slacking off. I can't sleep at my job, can you? If a job is too much and one cannot handle it without sleeping, then it's time to change jobs or request fewer hours.

6. When one person is on the job

responsbile for others it is not good. There should always be back up when others lives are involved. Plus, looking at a screen for several hours can put one to sleep. It is like hynosis.

The the one who said, they could not sleep on their job, no one can but sometimes one cannot help it.

Have you ever fallen alseep at your computer after being there for some time? I bet you did!

Working 8-12 hours at a time with no communication with others is a problem.

They are not just sitting there at their screen waiting for a plane. They know the schedules, but are to damn lazy and stupid to set an alarm or have the radio volume loud enough to wake them up.  Most likely they were drunk like most union workers.  :fuelfire:

11. It's crazy to have someone in that position and work them to exhaustion and

still expect them to be alert and on top of it with no support.

I toured an air traffic facility once, and although I understand the differences between that and a control tower, but each is an incredibly important job. When I entered the room I could FEEL the pressure and stress -- almost as though a weight was pushing down on my shoulders. That much laser focus and stress takes its toll, too.

It's nighttime and few flights, you moron. That means little stress, besides, stress causes insomnia, not sleepiness.

First of all, that was a Taco Bell you were in, jackass, NOT an ATC tower.

Secondly, you really should consider going to get your munchies BEFORE you peak....so much easier to discern where you are.

BTW....a libtard talking about "laser focus" has become just too ****ing ludicrous to even talk about, so I won't go there.

This is a rare situation that DUmmies agree isn't Dubya's fault. It's Reagan's fault for dropping the hammer on PATCO.
With a strong union, you'd have three controllers in the tower, so two could sleep while one stayed awake.

That's why it's called the night shift, you Dumb f***s! There is nothing in your biology that says you need 6-8 hours of night time sleep, you just need sleep. People on night shift sleep during the day. If they're not doing that, that's on THEM.

Damn, I hate f'n liberals.

Oh my God.  I briefly scanned their thread until I just couldn't take it.  No wonder they have the reputation as lazy, worthless, walking pieces of human debris.

Just sleep whenever you want!!!  It's your constitutional and human right!!!  Even if someone's safety depends on it!!!!!

No, DUmb****s.  That's not how the world works, and if you cared about your fellow man as much as you say you do, you'd realize that.  You see, a polite and ordered society insists you stay awake and alert when directing traffic, operating machinery, driving, earning a living, and doing anything else that affects other people.  The world doesn't revolve YOU, you know.

At my interview, the lady told me that people think just because they work at home, they can fall asleep on the job.  She must have had to fire quite a few DUmmies recently.

Logic disconnect, how the Hell do you get from 'Overworked and too busy in a stressful job' to 'sleeping on duty' without it involving a faceplant (And none of these cases did)?

Sleeping on the job is never okay, no matter how tired/stressed you at. I can't believe they'd defend it Never mind, yes I can.

Unless you have a job which has sleeping on the job as part of the job description (e.g. night attendants at some care facilities).

Firefighters and paramedics who work 24 hr shifts sleep on duty, but not during calls!

There is one group that I wish would go to sleep and sleep for the whole shift...government workers that pass out the freebies to DUmmies.

Most DUmmies don't have to worry about sleeping on the job. They would need a job to actually be found sleeping on the job.
