I have to say that in my practical experience, cycle frequency seems to be every bit as hard on bulb life for CFLs as it is for incandescents.
Absolutely correct.
Thing is...
The dollar for IC sure beats five bucks for the CFL.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I refuse to use the CFLs.  Apparently the 100 watt incandescent bulbs will not be sold after January 1st, 2012.  Next, the 75 and 60 watt bulbs won't be sold after January 1st, 2013.  Then they do away with the evil 40 watt bulbs the next year.

I am stocking up on incandescent bulbs.  Anytime I'm in Target, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, or Home Depot, I pick up a supply.  I really don't care if it costs more to use them.  I refuse to be told by the environmental wackos and Nancy Pelosi what kind of bulb to use in my house.  Oh, and I keep my thermostat at 71 degrees during the summer.

 :cheersmate:

Our bulbs are on clearance at the Target we frequent.  Now that I am finally employed again, we will be stockpiling them.  Too bad I don't have coupons.

When someone comes up with a CFL that produces instant quality light and doesn't cost $4-8 a bulb then I might buy into this scam a bit.

I bought a 52 inch LED ceiling fan a couple of months ago.  It was on sale at Home Depot for $30.  I thought I was getting a bargain.  Turned out that I had to take the damn thing back because after all the work of installing it wouldn't produce light.  When I carried it back I saw another one in the returns bin and had to wonder how many others made that trip back.

I as told by an Ace Hardware employee that incandescent bulbs will still be available to folks in states that have incandescent factories/businesses for as long as the company remains open.  He also said that GA doesn't have an incandescent factory.  Guess I'll have to sneak bulbs over a border somewhere when the time comes and my stash wears down.

When we remodeled our bathroom last year the fixtures we wanted you can't have shipped to the stupid state of CA .  Because of some lead content law they have, every single faucet has to best tested by CA, it hadn't been tested yet.  Apparently US lead content laws aren't good enough for CA.  Every other state you can have it shipped to so my mom bought them and had them shipped to her in Texas and then shipped the illegal bathroom contraband to me in CA.

All they are going to do with these stupid CFL's is create an incandescent light bulb black market.

We get cans of paint and solvents at work that have a warning on them.

Makes me really glad I don't live in California. California makes things cause cancer.

Yeah, I'd stay away from there Thundley.  Better safe than sorry.

That's like phosphorus in the dishwashing detergent causes panties to get in a bunch in Oregon.  Trouble is, banning it extended to the rest of the country, leaving us with greasy, dingy dishes.  The recommended solution from the powers that be?  Lower your standards of cleanliness.

However, the health departments had a problem with this for restaurants and institutions.  Phosphorus had to stay for those uses.  These can be found at Sam's Club, etc. for your "restaurant."   :whistling:
