DUers Should Run for Office. Why Not? Create the Change!

I'd like to encourage DUers who have strong opinions about how government should be run to put their names forward as candidates in the 2012 election. Many state legislature seats will be up for election. It's unrealistic to propose that unknowns run for Congressional offices, but state legislatures are a great starting point, and have a history of newcomers with ideas getting elected. Filing dates are still pretty far off, so there's time to think about this, but the time to start thinking about it is now. You may have to get petitions signed, or come up with a filing fee. If you don't have money, most states have a way to get around that through petitioning.

So, if you believe you know how to turn things around and are fired up about it, why not take the big step and run for office? If you're angry about government, why not do something about it? Become the progressive candidate for your state assembly or senate district, if it's open. Start campaigning today. Tell the world about your ideas and see what happens. Who knows? You could be part of the change.

Oh, I hope they do, we could so use the comedy relief when all the raving lunacy on DU comes back to haunt them on the campaign trail!

My favorite DUmp candidate is an upstate New York DUmbass who posts a lot in the nuthatch forum as well as GD. He was going to start out small and work his way to the White House. The plan was to run for a seat on his local democrat party committee I think it was, and his posts were as excited as the current pie shop saga.  When all was said and done, his political career died, short of the White House, when he couldn't get enough petition signatures.

The way the TEA Party muscled aside so many establishment GOPers you too should charge in to the DNC HQ and demand--nay, ASSUME--your rightful place on the democrat ballot.

I remember some DUmmy running for office, and coming in dead last in a pool of 20.  Of course, this person ran as a raving Communist.

No, this guy was mdcv or something like that, a bunch of lowercase letters. He was somewhere in upstate NY, and I thought he failed to even make the ballot, but it's been a while. I've seen him whining in the DUmp nuthatch group about his various crazy traits.

I think that he may have been running in Newburgh.  And yes, his career was over just before it started, with his crazy-as-a-shithouse-rat politics.
