Wow, where to start?
The spousal unit has worked for Hob Lob for many years now. I have worked their part time for a period of time as well. Like every business, Hobby Lobby is not perfect, but they operate on a debt-free philsopy. Every new store is paid for, before it is built, thus ensuring they are able to provide their employees a relatively high level of job security. The self-imposed minimum wage at Hobby Lobby for a full time person, be it even a cashier or stock boy, is $11/hour, enacted last year when a lot of companies were laying off, or closing the doors.
My BIL manages inventory at one...he says they don't keep track of anything..They get the crap so
cheap they don't even track employee theft. They don't have scanners at the registers so they don't track what's sold at all.
I would say that is a self-fulfilling prophecy, or an answer looking for a question. When inventory is audited at the end of the year, an estimate is made on the amount of shrinkage; just like every other retail store I have worked at. Unless this DUmmie's BIL works at corporate in Oklahoma City, which it doesn't seem to be implied, their is not such thing as a position at a Hob Lob store "in charge of inventory". Department heads are "in charge of inventory" for their assigned departments. But, they also order, audit, and stock all the the merchandise in their respective departments. They also sweep up, face their aisles, and perform any other myriad of duties that a DUmmie would think themselves above performing. I won't go into how "they don't track what's sold at all", since any of you that have found yourself in a buyer's position will understand this to be utter trash.
Your BIL does not understand his job duties, is lying, or both.
It is a very 'Christian' store ... sometimes hymns are playing as the store background music.
I've been to many, many Hob Lob stores through the country, and I've never heard what I believe this DUmmie is claiming. 95% of the music in the store that is played over the muzak is Christian instrumental, piped in directly from corporate headquarters. All the stores play the exact same music, and nothing is played that has words. The occasional instrumental Sarah McLaughlin "Sweet Surrender", or the like is heard, but this is the exception. You, DUmmie, if you are implying what I think you are, are lying.
Do not seemed surprised that a "christian" fundamentalist runs his company like a hustler.
Hobby Lobby ran by a hustler? Please. When you find another zero-skills retail position that starts at $11/hour in this economy, then I will bend an ear to listen to you. Until then, you are either stupid, or lying to yourself.
I really wish I didn't have to shop there
My spousal unit will be glad to take your money, though. Just remember, once Hobby Lobby is done tithing your money at a corporate level to fund evil fundamentalist organizations, we do the same with her salary.
It's an icky store but the only choice I have at times
Please see above.
We found a really awesome framed Bill of Rights there last weekend.
We only buy when it's on sale, and I agree, it's really insulting, but their target audience is uneducated, fundamentalist Christian wackjobs (sic). I fully support ripping these people off whenever you get the chance.
Unless your 11"x14" Bill of Rights framed art was in the Home Accents mark down bin, you only bought this item for 50% off. If you think Hobby Lobby didn't make money off of you, you are sadly mistaken. I know exactly how much Hobby Lobby pays for this item. You are lying to yourself.
The ONLY thing they sold were Christian religious cards for EVERYTHING...birthday, anniversary, new baby, graduation....
Among others, Hobby Lobby sells Carlton, American Greetings, Marian Heath, Portal cards, etc.
You are either blind, or you are lying.
I've thrown away better garbage.
In my early days, I worked a LOT of retail and this was stuff that was ALWAYS thrown away in the past.
Mirrors with broken glass.
Porcelain statues with chunks broken out of them.
Wooden picture frames with big pieces missing.
Things that I wouldn't drag home
It looks like nothing bears repeating on this one, since several others see value in items that you choose to discard. How very un-green of you.
