My son joined the Army today ... ask me anything.
« on: April 01, 2011, 02:39:55 PM »
Posting as a very proud parent.  I'm not too fond of his soon to be "New Boss" but I couldn't be more proud of my son.

Today my son enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He will be shipping out October 3rd bound for Ft. Lostinthewoods, Missouri.

His mom is going to be a basket case come October but she'll get over it.  His sister is going to be lost.  They are 16 months apart in age and she has never been to school without her big brother.  They have been very close their entire lives so this could get interesting.

I think I'm going to have to leave the house and say my goodbyes to my son down the road from the house when he leaves because I won't be able to be around his mom and sister.

Anyway, just wanted to share!

 :gunny:
Hooah!

I can't wait to hear his stories.

What MOS?

12N

MOS = Horizontal Construction Engineer

He's going to operate heavy equipment.  It was quite the stuggle.  He was wanting to go Cav Scout and I was trying to talk him out of any infantry.  I wanted him to learn some kind of skill other than shooting people in the face.

The recruiters that came to the house were a great help with that.  One of them had been Cav Scout and was the biggest reason he decided to do something different.

Gracias Sparky.  I'm sure he'll make us proud.  He's been a great kid and I've been proud to call him my son.  Of course there are the times I've wanted to throttle the little b*stard but .... the wife intervened.  LOL

I dunno. It pays pretty good in New Jersey and Chicago.

He could work for Rahm.

There seem to be a lot of folks in that area willing to work for free though.  I think he needs a steady income.

Well, he may be your son, but if I ever have to treat him as a medic I will take care of him as if he were my own son.

Hope you don't mind the imposition.

"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

Thank your son for me.

Don't worry, KC.  He's only got less than 2 years to serve under the Jackass in Chief.  After that, he'll be serving under someone worthy of being his "boss."

Thanks DAT!  One of the cool things is; my folks live about 2 hours from Ft. Leonardwood.  IF he gets any weekend passes during AIT they can go pick him up for the weekend.  He hasn't been able to be around his grandparents, uncles/aunts and cousins much, this could be cool.
