I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,i came down here to London England. for a short vacation to visit a resort and got mugged at gun point last night at the park of the hotel where i lodged. All cash, credit cards and cell were stolen off me.I've been to the U.S embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all,my flight leaves today and I'm having problems settling the hotel bills.

The hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the hotel bills($2,000USD).Will really appreciate if you can help us with the loan

John

Hmm, wonder what I could respond with? First off, I don't believe him. Mugged at gun point? Guns are illegal in England. There are no guns in England. Sheesh.  :sarcasm:

Well, the exchange rate there DOES kinda suck.  But yeah, last time I was there with the ex, we stayed in Knightsbridge right behind Harrod's (Millenium Hotel?) and it was still in the $200/night range after taxes and such.  Probably more now, but still.

And yeah, this is a common scam, particularly with elderly or distant relatives.

I was seeing it for a while on Facebook, when the hackers would get into the account of a friend.
