« on: March 30, 2011, 01:26:35 PM »
What do you think of the prophecy that the world is ending in 2012?

Do you think it's true?  Please explain your reasoning's.

No.  I believe somewhere in the Gospels--better Biblical scholars here could quote the actual book, chapter, and verse--Our Lord Jesus Christ says words to the effect that not even He knows the day or hour--it is known only to the Eternal Father.

For mere humans to try to conform God to our ideals is a supreme act of arrogance.

There are two possiblities, the main chance is that it's all BS like every other TEOTWAWKI prophecy for the last 1,000-plus years, in which case it's nothing to worry about.

The other possibility is that it's true and we're all basically ****ed, and not in a good way, so we're doomed and there isn't shit we can do about, so there isn't anything to worry about on that one either.

So, nothing to worry about.

I am not worried but then I get this gnawing in my stomach that my kids are going to suffer if something happens.   :(

People fear the end and prepare to be ended rather than try to prevent it are partially at blame for it.

[joke]I don't see that the Calendar made up by the ancestors of the guys who make crappy shoes in New Beige holds any legitimacy for finding out when we are all going to die.[/Joke]

Personally, I don't think it's true, or worth taking seriously for that matter.

No.  I believe somewhere in the Gospels--better Biblical scholars here could quote the actual book, chapter, and verse--Our Lord Jesus Christ says words to the effect that not even He knows the day or hour--it is known only to the Eternal Father.

I don't think God would chose that day to convenience the Mayans.

2012 ain't a good year for me...can we get it postponed?

Election year and all that, you know. I want to see the expression on Me-shalls face when the free parties/vacations end.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

No - what has happened thus far doesn't line up with biblical prophecy.

Well, aside from the fact that the "end of the Mayan calendar" is frankly a load of horseshit, even then I don't believe the world is going to end in 2012.

Unless you're a liberal, and on November 6th, you'll see what a beatdown looks like, God willing.

I disbelieve EOTW prophecy in all forms on general principle.

The prophecy of the Mayans is equally as valid as the rantings of Nostradamus.

TRUE but exactly what does the end of the world mean????

Every day in one way or another our "World" ends when a friend or family member dies.  Our world ends when we have to move from place to place, a divorce, a new school, anything that changes the stat is Quot of ones life down to the loss of a loved pet.

Our world ends when we awaken from a dream of the kids when they were small to realise that those days are long gone.  Sickness and disability end our former" World",  So we adjust to the big time events in our lives and continue to carry on.

I am most concerned with the things that come to happen and have given my daughters dehydrators to begin to store food, just in case, no big deal the Mormons have done this for 100 years or so.  This food can last 30-40 years, if all kinds of crap happens in these years at least we have done our best to protect future generations from starving.  We may be long dead in the ground when our decedents need this, at least I have found one way to ease my mind about what is going on at this time.

Each day our world ends and begins again the next morning with some thing that causes some change to our lives.   --------------------Now if the EARTH were to itself change, explode or get a direct hit from a comet that turns it upside down, then Why Worry, eat drink and be merry, tomorrow we must die.

In a weird, holistic, big picture sort of way, you're actually making sense today.  That's probably one of the Signs.

"It" what happens when the time comes, you halfwit.

See, this is the kind of shit that gets stirred up anytime a bunch of sweaty-balled, effeminate douchebags think they've unlocked the secret to the "meaning of life," except all they invariably do is build some lame-ass Tower of Babel, convinced of their own brilliance.

Someone tell "Bertram" to take the time to proofread his shit. Ignorance is bad enough, but posting a ridiculously stupid, one-line comment, yet being too ****ing lazy to use a simple contraction is just too annoying to let slide.

Give Bertie a break, HNC.

After all, he just emerged from Mommy's basement after several weeks of growing pot.

He's a little dazzled right now. Give him time and the vast amount of experience he's amassed in his college Debate class will once again shine forth in all its glory.
