The "Union Worker" pistol

I visited a gun show not too long ago
and found a fake ad for a revolver called the Union Worker - it won't work, and you can't fire it.

Around 90 years ago, however, the ancestors of the guy who put out that poster were probably blue-collar "redneck" union miners who were marching in West Virginia against heavily armed corporate mercenaries when they opened fire on each other at Blair Mountain in one of the worst incidents of labor violence in American history. The original rednecks were pro-union to a man, earning their nickname from the red bandanas they wore to show solidarity with their fellow miners.

So the next time someone wants to use guns to make fun of union workers, they know what they can do with their little ad.

LOL, shows what they know.  About a hundred years ago, some of my ancestors were getting kicked off the indian reservation for the crime of running a legitimate business.  Others had taken up farming in Florida.  Some others were running logging camps in Georgia.  I fail to see any union workers in the lot.

  • Oh snap!
I've seen that gun picture.  A few people posted it on Facebook last week.  It was funny... and true.

I just love it when factual history is against the DUmbshits, so they pull a more favorable one out of their assholes:

Quote

redneck
"cracker," 1893; attested 1830 in more specialized sense ("This may be ascribed to the Red Necks, a name bestowed upon the Presbyterians in Fayetteville," from Ann Royall, "Southern Tour I," p.148). According to various theories, red perhaps from anger, or from pellagra, but most likely from mule farmers' outdoors labor in the sun, wearing a shirt and straw hat, with the neck exposed.

WRONG, Asshole!

In the first place, the miners were heavily outgunned, and those "armed corporate mercenaries" were the sheriff and deputies of Logan County.  Besides, why would anyone with a working brain cell have a red bandana around their neck to give their enemy something to shoot at!.

BTW, this armed excursion by the miners and the coal companies was a SET BACK for the UAW in West Virginia.  Membership fell to 20% of what it was BEFORE Blair Mountain, and didn't recover until the 1930's.

Now if the gun was called the NEA Union Worker...   :rotf:

I'm sending that off to a friend.  She sent me one the other day, "How do you starve a union member?  Hide his food stamps in his work boots."  Probably old, but it was the first time I heard it.

Well, of course the DUmmies immediately set to squabbling between the guys who like guns and the little fellers who don't.

Someone set them straight on "redneck," which killed the thread.

In the union-strangled northeast, I know lots of people who are forced to be union members but hate every bit of it, especially when their dues go to political parties opposite their core beliefs. If you want to work in some professions, you have to be union here.

Read his post again.

He's not surprise, he's disgusted by those things.
