… I don’t think it means what you think it means.

"
So, I’m driving into Anchorage this morning.

Along with the usual herd of jackasses who, despite living in Alaska still don’t seem to know how to drive in snow, one vehicle in particular caught my eye.

It was one of those enormous black pickup trucks, with the huge knobby tires and smoked glass windows and chrome roll bar complete with half a dozen giant chrome halogen lights and a ten foot high antenna whipping about in the slipstream and pipe organ-like exhaust pipes jutting up from behind the cab belching thick plumes of white diesel smoke like the twin contrails of a fighter jet on full afterburner."

"What I really wanted to ask is this: Proud American? Really? What is it exactly that you’re proud of? You say you love your country? You say you love the United States? Really? Which part? What is it that you love about it? Specifically, what exactly do you love about America?

Because, see, so far as I can tell, people like you seem to hate just about everything that makes the United States what it is. "

Liberal knee jerk reaction. The bumper sticker, "Patriotic American" set this one off. liberals HATE free speech.

Liberals hate America. Any display of patriotism or even the flag is offensive to them. They cannot stand knowing people out there love a country that liberals plan to tear down and replace.

Therefore any bumper sticker that supports the troops, or expresses patriotism must be hypocrisy. It violates the liberals religious devotion to a socialistic tyranny.
If a liberal doesn't love this country then no one can. Further: No one is allowed to.

The fact(?) that this guy made Chief doesn't impress me at all. The military is a big place with a few million people in it, unfortunately no shortage of asshats. I doubt this clown held any position of real meaning in the fleet, a place that tends to winnow the chaff from the wheat. Likely a pogue who idled away his service years in the rear area realm of carpets and air conditioning.

In the Marines me & my buddies referred to these types as "R.O.A.D." sergeants or "Roadies" (Retired On Active Duty).
The civilian counterpart would be like the fat guy with 8 inches of plumber's crack on the highway crew, leaning on a shovel as he pats the beads of sweat off his forehead with a hanky while he watches the men work.  :loser:

I read his rant, or I should say, skimmed it because my eyes started to glaze over after the first couple of paragraphs. Basically a warehouse full of strawmen. I couldn't figure out who he was supposed to be addressing. Apparently it's meant for some character who hates every single part of the American experience, whoever that may be. That or he intends to say that anyone who is dissatisfied with what any facet of America has become is a "hater" and cannot still be proud of the country.

I would give him credit for lashing out at moonbats as well in about 25% of his screed, except that he strikes me as one of those people who likes to imagine himself as being "above the fray". You know the kind, smarter than both conservatives and liberals, having had their Moment Of Zen that allows them to look down and laugh at us mere mortals arguing with one another. They go through life not really taking a stand on anything. Political nihilists, I like to call them.

Oh, and white smoke?  Not even close.  And smoke from afterburners?  Not since the F-4.

White smoke from a diesel ?

Yeah. Sure.

If that's not an outright fabrication - that is steam or an indication that the truck is due for a trip to the doctor.

Wow, Mrs Smith. He came up with all of that just from seeing a pick-up truck with a bumper sticker.

In the book, "The Art of War," the first rule is to know thy enemy. This guy has NO clue. We know liberals, but they live in a fantasy world, and they know nothing about us. November 2010 is all the sweeter knowing liberals haven't learned a single thing.

I know it was when my old car broke down once. But the dummies don't drive earth killing diesels so I doubt they'd know anything about them anyway.

In the first place, diesels are the CLEANEST burning engines on the planet.

Second, you would get the white "smoke" from a diesel engine in extremely cold weather.  It's called "water vapor", and the blogger in the OP would have it right comparing the trailing "smoke" from the exhaust pipes "like the twin contrails of a fighter jet", because they are exactly the same thing.  Water vapor.

I know they are. I drive one everyday however, I also know most of the people at DU I've talked with have issues with diesels.

I must have read it wrong if thats what the OP was talking about, but then again I only skimmed over the post.
