"Golf Club Co. Threatens To Move If Pot Shop Becomes Neighbor"

Golf club manufacturer Ping is threatening to leave its Phoenix headquarters after 45 years if a medical marijuana dispensary is allowed in the neighborhood, according to its attorney. If you support medical marijuana patients, you definitely want to think twice before buying anything made by these morons.

While most dispensary applications sailed through without opposition, Ping objected strenuously to an applicant for a site at 1944 W. North Lane, one block south of the company's headquarters, reports Michael Clancy at The Arizona Republic.

Ping representative Stephen Earl told a Phoenix hearing officer that the company is "considering" investing $170 million to renovate its headquarters, but "may not do so if the neighborhood decline continues."

Earl said Ping brings in celebrities and pro golfers from around the world, and college teams rom across the country, for tours and club fittings. Bringing them into a "bad neighborhood" reflects poorly on the company, he said.

The neighborhood already includes a striptease club, Centerfolds Cabaret; a lingerie store, Fascinations; and a hemp products store is planned.

Earl claimed the neighborhood is becoming a "hotbed of deleterious uses," including the possible medical marijuana dispensary.

I paid exactly $99.00 for an entire set of cheap clubs that work just fine.

WTF moment. I guess I just fail to see their logic. They could change their name from Ping to Bong! God am I fed up with regressive people and corporations in RW America.
A DUmmy cannot see the logic in a civilized business being unhappy with having a head shop next door.

9. Well...my guess is that Phoenix is suffering
from regressive policies as well as the burst bubble.

Perhaps it is declining as the golf mecca it was a few years back.

Perhaps celebrities and pro-golfers don't want to come to Phoenix anymore.

Perhaps Ping is just looking for a way to get out AND shove their fascist agenda down their throats at the same time.

Anyway...my answer to them--go ahead. Just TRY to sell your real estate in that market. Cut off your ****ing nose to spite your face...but either way, the owners of the property have just as much of a right to run their legal business as you do.
This is the logic that has led California and the East Coast hellhole to run off businesses, and then cry about unemployment and budget deficits. Drive away a great company like Ping, and welcome a head shop. Democrat business logic.

This is the type we see every weekend on public golf courses.  That reminds me, need to book a tee-time on a non-public course this week.   :-)

I always loved the little teeny-boppers who rented a cart and played through without asking, and then get all sorts of bent out of shape when 120-mph golf balls kept whizzing by their heads.

Oh, and memo to DUmmies--I've played on plenty of courses which don't allow alcohol, or at least don't have the "cart girl" running around.

We usually book out tee times as close to sun up as possible. I can be home by noon, just when the DUmmies are waking up.

In Vegas, that's not just prudent, it's absolutely friggin necessary between May and October.  I've done rounds where my tee time was at 6:30 am, and the temperature in the shade (and there is NO shade outside the cart at Desert Pines) was 90 when I started my round.  By the time I was off the course at 10:30-11, it was 115.

Carl Spackler: This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.
