My DU and how it changed while I was gone.

I've been a DU member for a couple years now, and last summer/fall leading up to the election, I was pretty active, consistent with the rest of my life being immersed in politics.

When the election results came in, my feelings were of a montage of feelings - all bad.

Not only did the other side make gains nationally, enough to take the House, but my State - Wisconsin - turned from Russ Feingold Blue to Scott Walker Red. (note: Ron "I married the businessman's daughter" Johnson of course defeated Russ, but has since been seen only at RW fundraisers; Walker is clearly the face of the RW in the State).

The elation I felt just 22 months earlier was shattered. The hope I had of strengthening our 2008 gains were dead.

I was burned out; I turned off politics altogether in my life for the next 14 weeks. I stuck my head in the sand and just tried to be a positive influence in my family and with others I met.

Then Walker introduced his complete power-grabbing, resource-stealing, environment-polluting, worker-screwing, opposition-silencing so called "budget repair bill" and I was back in the game. At least I was as soon as I could get home from southern climes where Cheeseheads like to hide out the worst part of winter.

As regular DU'ers know, I've been posting (and reading) quite a bit the past month. And I too have noticed a different vibration within DU.

I sense a faction of people who find themselves in the position of constantly defending Democrats from other DU'ers criticisms. This was understandably less obvious last year.

I sense a faction of people who find their well-meant constructive criticisms being rejected without consideration.
They feel they're being told "no criticism is acceptable".

I sense a faction of people who feel completely betrayed by the President.

I sense a faction who are now struggling to know what it means to be Progressive / Liberal / Socialist / Whatever.

I sense a presence of paid plants who are there to try to shape our opinions, to keep our expectations low.

I feel we're still committed to ending the fascist world-wide wars being waged against us, and the resultant poverty, war, and other malfeasance committed against the People.

And I feel the same healthy debate, the readiness to base judgement on science, on truth. To question ourselves; to change our minds if we encounter new facts or now see problems from new perspectives.

Thanks to all of you who ARE DU.

As always, I welcome your thoughtful and reasoned responses.

I feel, I sense, I feel, I sense.  Can you imagine getting stuck with this guy in real life?  Gad, what a self-important, self-regarding gasbag, just like every other liberal American male.  Where did that despicable species come from anyways?  They're good for nothing but wringing hands and sharing feelings.  Maybe he can bake a cake, I don't know.  No wonder these creatures are forever locking themselves in the bathroom to have a good cry.  I find them utterly repulsive, every last one of them.

I've been away and just got back; still trying to catch up.

Anyway, I noticed the scrubbing primitive is featured in today's DUmmie FUnnies, including a photograph.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2693278/posts

I wonder if this has anything to do with the scrubbing primitive's disconsolation.

He wanted to create a corps of computer geniuses to "help" my fellow alum Skins run Skins' island.

The scrubbing primitive never seemed to grasp that my fellow alum isn't interested in "help" from the primitives; the only thing Skins wants is money from the primitive, which he'll use to hire his own help.

So the scrubbing primitive, if concerned for Skins's island, should be emptying his wallet, instead of offering this preposterous proposal to "help," as if the primitives "helping" is a substitute for cold cash.

Moles are paid?

They think they are important enough, that someone would pay people to stir them up.
Little do they know that no one gives a rat's ass what they think and when we mole it's purely for fun.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

We don't have a local rep here, anyway I can find one online?  "Paid plant" at the DUmp would be a dream job.

Just wondering though, who's putting up the money for this vital position?

Scuba is the reason they made the GEICO commercial with R Lee Ermey.

I will send a JukCo Happy Fun Time kit to him. Comes complete with one single edged razor blade and detailed instructions to the nearest interstate highway.

I don't ever remember DUmmy Scuba.  Was he/she/it ever even notable for posting anything interesting?  I usually remember the memorable ones.
