This freaking desolate hell hole was nothing but a sand pit in most places. The Palestinians did very little to improve what they considered home land, the Brits did little as there was nothing they could acquire from that spot of land to off set the cost of just being there.
When not one other nation was willing to give up inch of its land the Brits came in and handed the land over to the Jews, it got that darn place off their hands, saved them Lot's of money to give it away in what was thought of at the time a noble gesture if not insane.
Who the hell would want to live there, the survivors of the camps and Jews around the world will not go there, they will all die. The world underestimated the Jews, come they did.
I remember on Sunday in in church my Christian church took up a separate collection for the Plant a Tree in Israel. We sent tools to build with, seeds to plant and Jewish experts in agriculture. This bit of land became the place to go to watch a civilization rise from the desert floor----A bit like the Mormons of Utah--
For some scientific reason the trees brought in the rain to irrigate crops never before grown in that area. All was not exactly Joy and harmony in that time. The Arab and Muslim world did not want them there and when time came to pass they could do nothing about it, the Jews did the most common sense thing they could do, they passed laws that mandated every civilian to serve in defence of their New Home Land. ---- they just were not going to take it any more-- As Doctor Ruth the 4'6 inch " woman put it, at 13 she could blindfolded take a machine gun apart and put it back together in minutes.
Amazing people, their saga in the last 70 years should be placed in the last books of the Old Testament.
This Helen Thomas is really confused when she says the Jews should go home. They are HOME, they built their home and the thieves and killers want in to take from them all they have worked for. Helen is of Lebanese decent, why the hell does she not take her own advice and go home. Or if she is so for the Palestinians to reclaim land that was never there's in the first place, put her in a WAY BACK machine to the 1920's and live under the conditions there were there at that time.
Oh no she is an American, born on American soil, but the Jews born on Israeli soil have to go to POLAND???
