My son is in first grade and went on a field trip the other day. The kids were served lunch,

and as the kids were eating, one little boy said, "I'm going to take part of my lunch home to have for dinner because we don't have any food at my house."

My wife was on the field trip as a chaperone, and had tears in her eyes when she told me the story. I was wondering, is there a way we could do something for the family without them knowing it was us? I was thinking of getting a gift card to a grocery store, maybe...I don't know. I know this could be a touchy situation and I don't want to insult the parents.

Any suggestions?

6. My wife told me that the boy gets free lunch and breakfast at school.

So I get the feeling that the family is going through some tough times.

She was a chaperone on a field trip and she somehow knows this child gets free breakfast and lunch at school?

I don't understand how Bobbo misses these goodwill to the poor threads.   You would think one of them would page her to the thread so she can see how truly kindhearted the progressives can be with their good intentions..........

I think this one was posted yesterday.

The comment was, but not the thread.

So this is a free-standing one, sir.
