It was a piece of shit. Glorification of the romantic relationship between two men without regard to the harm the relationship did to their wives and children.
Yes, it was....a movie that totally devastated 2 other people's lives...and I can't remember if they had children involved or not.
The DUmmies giving 2 selfish home wreckers adoration is all about DUmmies trying to show how tolerant they are to homosexuality.
In DUmmieLogic (I know that is an oxymoron), these two men just *had* to get married in order to hide what they were.
Give it up for DUmmie Love.
That's exactly what I thought. While these two were gay, I'd have the same level of disgust if they were straight. It doesn't matter the sentimental spin put on it...both knew they were gay BEFORE they married. Oh, I know the message...uptight society and all that. But, if these two were really as honorable and brave as the movie tried to make them, they would've had the integrity (and RESPECT for the woman and each other) to stay single or try to make it work with each other. But when you look at all the divorces and "alternative" living situations at the DUmp, I know why the don't get it. Besides, who cares if those children are scarred for life...they have a pill for that don't they? Typical selfishness candy-coated with sappy music and beautiful scenery.
You know, this wasn't even the middle ages where marriages were arranged to create alliances and for political expediency. Of course they lived their fantasies through Courtly Love...knights and ladies...look but don't touch. When they did give in, Lancelot and Guinevere brought down an entire kingdom and all that it stood for...pretty harsh punishment...there's a moral in there somewhere. I guess we have evolved because these two only destroyed the lives of their families. Evidently, doing things "for the children" only matters when we're talking about more taxes for schools or free health care (SOMEONE has to pay for those anti-depressants). God forbid "for the children" should mean parents putting their children's needs above their own (which should also mean loving their mother).
My husband traveled the rodeo circuit in his younger days (yes girls, dreams DO come true...I married a cowboy) and I don't think I could repeat what he said about this (and he didn't even watch it...won't allow it on his television). We have so few heroes left, it's kind of sad because cowboys are SO American...foreign leaders, grown men, want to visit President Bush's ranch just so they can play "cowboy" for the day. No cowboy I know would EVER play the victim! They couldn't be brave, gay, and SINGLE? I know a few old cowboys who've never been married and while they're not gay they can entertain an 8 year old with stories that hold their attention better even than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Oh well, another American institution down the drain. What next...gay soldiers? The G.I. and the Jihadi...love across the divide as deep as the sands of the dessert. They could send their wives "Dear Jane" and "Dear Fatima" letters and go into the designer burqa business after the war. However, considering they hold beauty contests for camels over there, if I were the G.I., I think I'd make sure Fatima didn't walk on all fours and subsist on hay. I'm sure there's something about this whole thing I'm just not getting. But then, I'm one of those "uptight" Republicans who believes in personal responsibility. I could care less what two people do together as long as they don't KNOWINGLY hurt others in the process. Being closed-minded is such a curse.
