Carwash DUmmy Spins An Oily Bouncy
« on: March 07, 2011, 11:50:16 PM »
DUmmy SHRED spins one of those bouncy tales where the author uses the fabrication as a means to impress his fellow DUmmies with his utter coolness. Not only is his audience awestruck by his brilliance, he is as well:

So at work this guy I know says to me...
..., in front of about 5 other dudes, in a smartass tone; "You need to tell Obama that we need to drill here now!".

A little background, this guy loves listening to RW talk radio and views me as well, "one of them thar libruls".
I am 100% sure that he had just got through with listening to one of those radio pigs drone on and on how that liberal Obama is stifling those poor oil companies with his over regulation along with the "environazis".
He believes in the "Drill here, drill now, pay less" slogan.

So in front of everybody I reply very calmly, "What makes you think oil corporations are loyal to this country?".
"The oil corporations are multi-national and it is a world oil market".
"Every drop they extract enters into that market".
"Their is no 'our' oil".

You could have heard a pin drop.
Everyone was having an "ah ha" moment.
No one said anything.
And that was that.

Man that felt good.
When indisputable raw truth smacks down smart-ass, lie-based rhetoric it is a beautiful moment.
And the best part is I didn't raise my voice. I just said it matter-of-fact like.

Sweet.
Thought I'd share.

Of course this didn't happen. Between vehicles at the carwash, the "dudes" talk about weed and women, nothing else.

2. Bravo to you and NEENER NEENER NEENER to those guys at your work.

Certainly one I'll add to my quiver of come-backs.

I'm really sorry, but anyone who has the word "neener" in his active vocabulary does not have a quiver of comebacks.

He isn't that up to date.

Remember, he gets his info from Faux Noise and RW radio talk.

DUmmy SHRED has no idea what the word "moratorium" means.

Okay, another math lesson, DUmmies:

For every penny gas prices increase, that's $4 MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY that Americans no longer have to spend on other things.  That translates out to about $1.5 BILLION per year.  Now keep in mind that the average gas price according to AAA has increased 39 cents in the last MONTH, and 76 cents in the last year.

Now punch out that on your calculators (since I'm doing this in my head and I'm sure you're going to want to put me in an "A-HA!" moment) and that comes out to either just under $60 BILLION if you go based on the last month, or around $114 BILLION based on last year's prices.

Now mind you kids, that's just for fuel.  This doesn't include the extra price you'll pay for EVERYTHING else that depends on oil for production, which in this day and age quite literally means from soup to nuts.  Food?  All the way from the farmer to the distributor to the energy costs to keep your Ben and Jerry's frozen.  Clothing?  Mills need energy, as does the shop from which you buy them.

I could give you many, many more examples, but you get the idea.  Bottom line, expensive gas means not only less money after you've filled up, it creates--ta da!--INFLATION...oooohhhh...how you hate hearing that word.  And if you think 4-5 percent now sucks, just wait until we're back into that late-70s/early-80's "stagflation" rates of 12-15 percent.

And you ****ing DUmmies think your life sucks NOW?

not just inflation, but cost-push inflation, which is much harder to reduce.

GOP candidate's slogan in 2012: The question isn't whether you're better off than you were four years ago, the question is 'Can you afford four more years of this?'

That's a flat out lie. The administration still has their permatorium in place, which is why a judge has held the federal government in contempt of court.

Not just at the gas pumps guys.

Heating oil and propane are killing me, another $450.00 to keep heat, hot water the stove working in less then 6 weeks.

My Mom has an oil tank outside and needs to buy the most expensive oil so the damn thing don't freeze.   Dad had a 500 gallon tank buried in the yard for emergency and he was made to fill it with sand because it had the possibility of leaking 50 years from then.  Now if mom had her tank in the cellar then she could buy the cheap [HA ] stuff.

Some apartment complexes include heat in the rent.  Now the landlord will have to increase the rent just to pay his taxes. by increase I mean by 2/3 .Town taxes will go through the roof just to keep the snow plows trucks on our highway.  School buses and ambulance service, the fire department and the police will be at a disadvantage.

Recreation,  by bus, plane or train.  all out of sight for us normal working folk, or retirees.

Water front, the big boats that one works all their life to afford, gas tanks will hold up to 75 gallons or more  of gas, just how far can one go on the coast before having to refill just to get home.  Ever wonder why so many of us go for sail or Kayaks today.??    It used to cost $3.00 in gas to go bass fishing and now who knows just how much a day on the water for fishing will cost.

Look around your home, what do you see that is not made with some form of Petroleum product.  Even the foods you buy are bagged in plastic wrap the Styrofoam platters under the meats and the can goods and labels, the cooking process all use some form of Petroleum in the manufacture.

We are a Petroleum based society and if we do not now begin to DRILL BABY DRILL, we can be cast back into the dark ages.

What do you have that you use every day that is not based on Petroleum,  what an interest geode you found or perhaps a piece of drift wood.  Even your medication was produced using some kind or Petroleum.

We just bitch and moan about the price of oil, we forget that we in today's society depend on that oil to survive.-----Rant ended for now.

A little background

The set up.  Must start the story by painting this guy as an ignorant conservative, just waiting for political and social enlightenment.

The awe inspiring revelation that the ignorant conservative never thought about.

Not that old.  Hell, I remember that--granted, I was a kid, but I remember it.  I also remember when penny candy was in fact a penny, hamburger was 25 cents a pound, a movie ticket for an adult cost $2, and you really could get a couple of cheeseburgers, fries, and small drinks for just over a buck at McDonalds.

I remember getting change for your fifty cent McDonalds gift certificate with a burger and small drink. .19 a gallon during the 60's gas wars, full service with a fill up, free maps and drinking glasses.

When I got out of High School a buck would get me a gallon of gas, a pack of smokes and 3 cents change. A few months later when I hit 18 expenses went up. I had to throw in another $1.69 for a 6 pack.  :-)
