Proof that I love my wife:

I just purchased tickets to see Josh Groban in concert. It'll be me, and several thousand suffering men with thousands of screaming middle-aged women...

Thank God they serve beer at the venue.

I guess it's payback for all those Buffett concerts and the beer joints where I played harmonica in a blues band.

You are a good man SD.  A good man indeed.  If I wanted to go to see Josh Groban (which, btw, I do not) but if I did, I believe my BF's response would be something like:  "Go.  I ain't stoppin ya. You can do whatever you want, but I am not going."    Of course, that is the typical response to just about anything I suggest to do that a: costs money, and b: will have people at it.  Suffice it to say, we don't really do much of anything.   :-)

He's about 30.
I entertain visions of my 25-year old daughter and him getting together. :-)

Never heard of him.  Sounds painful, though;  I prescribe four beers and post to us about it in the morning.

That will require tailgating. Four beers at a concert? I'd need to take out a second mortgage.

That clown is no more a singer than my dog is, and she yodels from time to time.

Josh Groban is to singers what 3-year-old finger painters are to artists.

Sorry, Boudie, but that clown is way, way over his head -- and the tragedy is, people don't even know it.

Euph, just for you, gag on THIS:

I have begun indoctrinating my 2-year old grandson into Josh Groban's beautiful, soulful music.  I attribute it to you, and to a lesser extent all the GUYS on this thread dissing my boy Josh.

My husband and son, when informed of my plan, said at least Groban beats the hell out of rap.

He had no idea what to expect, and he said "women are throwing their underwear on the stage" and I was like yeah I forgot to tell you how the women act when they see him. We got the tickets for my Mom for her Birthday and I grabbed an extra 1 for hubby, so he went not knowing what to expect. He kept jumping when the lady next to him screamed.

I would love to see Davey Jones, I'd force him to go with me.

There are only three acts that I wish to see, and have been advised that I would have to find someone else to go with, because of that money and people thing.

Janes Addiction
Social Distortion
Sting  (yeah, I know, but I never got a chance to see the Police)

Seriously, I'm delighted that you enjoy MUSIC - that nebulous, indefinable thing that can inspire us and guide us in all kinds of ways. And I agree that Groban's stuff is better than rap, but that's hardly a comparison since the sound of cats fighting is better than rap.

I and Mrs E both shake our heads at the commercial "success" of Groban. Both of us know far, far too many artists with more chops, more skills, more training, more practice, and more artistry than that boy will ever see.

And from that perspective, that's the tragedy that I'm describing.

For that matter, we can apply that same basic concept to most commercial "successes" these days, to include Bieber, Aguilera, and the rest of those teen "stars" that manage to bubble through the system like so many farts in a bathtub.

Which musical artists are you describing, Eupher?  I really would like to listen to someone who could top Josh Groban, because if those people are out there, I'm not hearing them.
I'm not musically trained at all, don't play any instruments like you do, but I do know what I love, and that's his music.
I AM somewhat of a linguist, having majored in French, minored in Spanish, learned kindergarten German by cultural immersion and acquired a smattering of Italian, Hungarian and whatever other language I needed to in order to visit the various European countries.  So, on this I feel qualified enough to remark, Josh SOUNDS exactly like a native speaker no matter which language he's singing in.  That right there is quite alot of talent.  I promise you I certainly would never be mistaken for a native speaker in any language except English. :p
