 Good God...
So many frightening and depressing stories, it's like a slow motion car crash!

Airplanes with cheap or bogus parts installed by unqualified persons in Mexico and China.
How long before a plane falls out of the sky loaded with people because of it?

Women in Florida may have to suffer even more indignities if they choose to have an abortion if they were raped. Shit, I'm moving there in two weeks!

Pictures of the 9th ward that are just HEARTBREAKING!
American indifference that is infuriating!

Naomi Klein telling us that as she crosses the country people are scared to speak out because they may wind up on "some list" or lose their jobs, or worse have their children harassed.

Cheney to get secret service protection long after he's out of office.

And the day to day Clinton/Obama pissing match on DU getting worse.

McCain/Rice ticket looked upon favorably by New Yorkers (bullshit, I say).

The squeeze is on the middle class.

You know, I think I understand now why people lose themselves in television and other mindless pursuits.

I weep for my country and frankly, I'm scared shitless.

What has become of us?

You're liberals, bad news for this country is always good news for you! :-) You people wallow in your shared{imaginary}misery. It completes you! So whats the problem? :-)http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3135942&mesg_id=3135942

Oh FFS! They love to be the victim don't they? I really think that if the world were all rainbows and lollipops, they would complain about the order of the colors in the friggin rainbow!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

misery, now that I think about it, really is the indispensable prerequisite for the (mindless) yearning for "change".

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Sir Winston Churchill

Can't say it better than this great man and savior of democracy did.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I just spent 10 minutes on my knees (praying...get your mind out of the gutter), I feel rejuvenated and refreshed...it's going to be a great day. I have SO much to be thankful for.

I thought we wanted to give Mexicans jobs. What difference does it make whether they work in their country or ours? They just want a better life...isn't that what you guys are always telling us? I thought China was a country we should emulate. Everyone has a job and health care. So we lose a few cats and a couple of airplanes...isn't "made in China" cheaper for the middle class? Here's a thought...if we want businesses to STAY we have to make it worth their while...less taxes, not getting knee-capped by unions. There is something ironic about the anger on the left over American companies moving to China.

Yeah, letting your parents know you've been raped is really humiliating. God forbid mom and dad may want to hold you, cry with you, get you counselling. I'm sure the NARAL babes care so much more than your flesh and blood...heck they'd probably hold your hand while the doctor literally sucks life out of your vagina. However, since only about 1% of abortions are due to rape I think you can probably spend a little less time obsessing over this. Likewise if you're over 18...you can still spread your legs as much as you want and suck that foreign tissue out to your heart's content.

Now let me think...just WHO has been in charge there for the past several decades?

Perhaps they're just paranoid? Let's inject a little logic here shall we? I know it's hard but maybe if you try to FEEL logical. Were there anything to fear, Naomi wouldn't even be able to TALK about it because she'd be locked up. So would most of the members of DU...free (hate) speech just flows in that place. As for losing your job...I'd think that would be a situation that would have you practically salivating...think of the lawsuit possibilities! Then you could just sit back, collect your check and let the Cheeto's flow. By the way, children don't care about this kind of thing...I honestly don't know any 3rd grader being harassed because of mommy's politics. When you consider that most public school teachers are somewhere to the left of Stalin, they'd probably give the kid a gold star just for parroting you.

Six months? I suppose it could seem like a long time if you have the attention span of a pencil eraser...

Let me guess...that's Bush's fault too. If you folks would concentrate on substance instead of identity you wouldn't have to choose between being a racist or a sexist. Frankly, you reap what you sow...you picked our candidate so consider this a little karmic payback.

McCain/Rice ticket looked upon favorably by New Yorkers (bullshit, I say).

While that would be perfectly fine with me, if I were Condi that's the last thing I'd want to do. She's had to put up with more hatred and racism (from the left) since becoming a public servant than many minorities face over a lifetime.

Because who wants to listen to this kind of crap every night on the news? The news is just DU with better clothes, prettier faces and triple the arrogance.

Oh give me a break! You don't give a rip about your country (and by the way, it's MY country too). The only person you care about is yourself. Even if this country became exactly what you wanted it to be you'd still spend most of your day bitching and moaning. You'd just find new things to be offended about...the health care isn't good enough, the welfare check isn't big enough, why can't women have more than one abortion a month, my grocery store is out of hummus and Cheeto's, and on and on and on. I think that's why most of you have such fond memories of Jimmy Carter...that misery index was enough to make you cream your jeans.

Don't worry, DUers. Everything will be magically better as soon as your anointed one, the Kool-Aid Kid, gets into office. :koolaid:

if he is elected, I think they will be at least as disillusioned by him as they are now with pelosi and whatshisname in the senate.

being admired by the liberals is a guarantee of impending doom.
