note from franksolich: this is an old poll but it needs taken again.  But damn, I reset the numbers back to "zero" before I noted what the previous numbers had been.  Sorry.

What label--"DUmmies" or "primitives"--seems to offend them the most?

There's a third monicker for the denizens of Skins's island, "DUmors," and while its usage is increasing, it hasn't yet come into general popular usage yet.

"DUmmies" was invented by some long ago person on freerepublic, circa 2003, back when George Bush was president and all was well with the world, and DUmmieland looked upon as the color-comics in the Sunday newspapers.  It was meant to convey the rather accurate and fair image of the DUmmies as laughable, ridiculous, ludicrous, preposterous, stupid, funny.

"Primitives" was invented at our old home in mid-2006, when the world was starting to unravel as the Dems took over Congress, and Skins's island was looked upon as an excellent and close contained laboratory for anthropological research.  It was meant to convey the rather accurate and fair image of the primitives as cruel, barbaric, brutal, coarse, unsophisticated, ill-mannered, uncouth savages.

Which label--"DUmmies" or "primitives" seems to offend them the most?

I say Primitive, because it conveys a simplistic minset and we all know that the primitives view themselves as the great intelligensia.  Smarter than the rest of the civilized world when they are nothing more than a bunch of monkey banging on keyboards.  Not as cute as monkeys, judt similar like them.  They just haven't figured out yet that they are nothing more than insignificant little bugs.I like watchimg them wiggle wagging their arms around like they're important as they try to outdo each other.

md11 hits it on the head.  They perceive themselves as the mostest smarterest people on the Innerwebz.  In reality, calling them monkeys banging on keyboards is insulting to monkeys.  Some of the are intelligent; and those are the ones with about as much common sense as your average gravel pit.  Most are easily-led, patheitc excuses for humanity that amount to something less than the mess created by masturbation.

I'm not sure but we have seen the DUmmies reference Frank's use of the word primitive when they talk about us talking about them.

"Primitives" seems to get more of a reaction from them, i.e. including the term in their posts from time to time.  

The term suggests to me their characteristic of never thinking beyond square one--free stuff for everyone!!--without thinking of unintended consequences, or any consequences at all.  It's childlike, juvenile, infantile.  Thus primitive at the brainstem level.

Oh you got that right!  I think it's hilarious the way it makes them absolutely furious, seething with rage.  If someone slips up over there, makes a typo and leaves off the "ic" it can derail the entire thread.  Really funny to see.

I have always been partial to dummy. (and Don Rickles) Primitive sounds a little too noble as though they cannot control their situation.  Then too it often is confused with primate so maybe I will just stick with dump monkeys.  As the great evolutionists they are dump monkey evokes thoughts of the president having a monkey's uncle or the proverbial thousand monkey endlessly typing to recreate Shakespeare.

I like 'rabid moonbat' or 'lunatic', personally.  We get more agitation and seriptitious reference to the sites that Shall over the use of "Primitive" as opposed to "DUmmy/DUmbass/DUmbshit/DUmb****" though.  I know it drives Stinky right up the effin' wall; that's got to be good for something.

Out of the two, I would say "primitive" - its entirely scientific in its usage, which bothers them especially since most of them consider themselves to be the keepers of all things intellectual and scientific. - "DUmmies" is a bit jocular - its almost the kind of nickname one gives a good friend.

...And the primitives are not our friends.

I also like DUmor - a play on the word 'tumor' which evokes images of cancer. I don't use it often, because I save it for the most vile members.

As long as whatever we call them gets under their skin, I'm happy with it.

You can just tell they are seething with anger over the descriptive accuracy of the collective reference.

You remember how "primitives" evolved, but there's so many new people here probably they don't know, and so here's the story again.....

One day franksolich long ago was stumbling through DUmmieland, and came across a thread where the DUmmies were discussing the possible impeachment of Richard Cheney.

franksolich is deaf; he doesn't do television, and for him, words are "pictures."

It was as if I had been stumbling through the thick underbrush of an unexplored island, and come across a whole lot of primitives sitting around a campfire, passing around to each other their own personal voodoo dolls of the then-vice president, cickling and cackling at the merits and unmerits the handiwork on each doll, their eyes rolling, their mouths sneering, their armpits wiggle-waggling, their heads bouncing up-and-down jiggle-jaggling their earrings, nose-rings, and hirsute locks, their eyes hardened with malevolence, their loincloths dirty.

Just like a bunch of savages.

I wish I had saved that thread--it was a very long time ago--all I remember any more is that the maternal ancestress of the Bostonian Drunkard was at that campfire.

If the primitives don't like "primitives," they got only themselves to blame; this is exactly the way they present themselves to the greater wider world.
