If I was in decent health I think I'd find a way to lower my health care premiums and use that extra money to the IRS. I'd either get less coverage or maybe just get catastrophic coverage. I might even do without it for a bit if that's what it took.

I bet they waited til the IRS had threatened them a number of times before they actually called them. We owed one year and couldn't pay it all at once. They were great to work with. They set up a payment plan we could afford and gave us a very low interest rate.

Hell, I owed 'em $322 last year, filed and extension and made a deal they would just keep it from what i gave 'em this year.

It ain't a big deal unless of course you get so far behind  you run into the thousands.

If not Island primitives, then they at least vote the same way.

OK, I wandered over to PeopleofWalmart, and there was a link there at the top to "White Trash Repairs."  Funniest damn thing.  Check it out.

Several many years ago, based on some incorrect info provided by my Moonbat Aunt I ended up owing the IRS a nice ole honking chunk of change.  As soon as I got the letter, I consulted a friend of mine who was a CPA, and he helped me draft a letter to the IRS.  They took pity on me, waived my penalties, and set up a payment plan, for auto draft.  They even let me pick the day for the autodraft.
R.I.P. LC and Crockspot.  Miss you guys.

My late Dad had a rather unique theory on capital gains taxation, to which the IRS took serious exception after they finally caught up to him on it, and although they socked pretty heavily with a lump sum on it, deducted from his retirement by payroll deduction; in terms of back taxes, penalties, and interest, they actually let him off pretty lightly and stretched the plan over two years.  While there are some of them who are dicks, by and large my experience with them is that they are pretty reasonable people.

I was much younger at the time, and I consider myself fortunate to have known this CPA that I did.  He advised me to send my mea culpa letter ASAP.  The situation could have been a lot worse, but owning up to the mistake with them and arranging a payment plan seemed to make the situation a lot less painful.

Sound advice; of course anyone in Dutch with them does need to be aware that they DEFINITELY regard anything you owe them as taking priority over any other debts you have, and not something to be fitted in to your budget after the credit card payments and car payment.

Back around '93 my company screwed up our out of town expenses and they got included in our wages. Major, major Charlie Foxtrot!

I ended up owin' all kinds of cash, so like anyone, I challenged them and quit filin' my taxes! That really showed 'em! I think I ended up payin' a hundred bucks a month and they kept my tax returns for 5 years!

Strange but as neither Hubby or I know anything about finances except how to balance a check book, when we bought our home all the gobble gook to said conditions was not easy to understand.

So as we use H&R Block we found to our dismay a few years ago we could not take any take deduction on our home for interest.   Seems that we had paid off the interest first before the cost of the home.   We had to come up with $10,000 in deductions and we were both covered with health insurance so we could just file a simple return.

What ever happend to double pay taxes where you can deduct any and all federal taxes that have all ready been paid.???   Gas, heating, phone, cigarettes and booze.??  I know we can deduct our losses on lottery and scratch tickets but no more interest on credit cards or auto loans.

Tax time and very confusing even for the Tax Lawyers.  Now to take a Charity donation off taxes one has to some how get a receipt from local churches, the Santa with the bell on Xmas, anything donated to Good Will, who decides what the goods are worth???

Very frustrating , we do want to pay our fair share but few want to over pay on taxes.
