Affirmative on both counts.
Big deal Sparky and Zig can back me up on this.
For 20 + years a small town had a mens health club operating right in view of the interstate. Everyone from California knew where to go, truckers and locals kept the Club in buisness.
The town cops making $25,00 a year some how came up owing expensive cars and boats, later all the police force owned free and clear their own homes. Their sallerys rose to tripple of the begining and life was good.
20 years in the making, this small town began to get donations to the schools, librarys and every civic program in town.
This town was Clean, the cops pulled no punches and were known for being bastards----they find a drunk driver in their town , man woman or youth, they left with a knot on their head.
Now this so called health club was really runing the town, they kept the police on their toes and jumped in when the schools or any organitiations needed help. the club put thousands of dollars into the town coffers.
Along comes the FBI to watch for interstate trafficing young woman. the FBI tried to work with the local police but found that when they made a raid on the club, all was clean and good. All the woman workers had some kind of cirtificate saying she was licenced in Maine to perform massages for health.
Now comes the big hit, a 13 year old runaway was transported over 2 state lines to work at the Health club. The FBI did not inform the police they were comming and when the hit took place all hell broke out.
The owner a well respected Lawyer went to prison, his wife to a few years of house arrest.
Every one on the town council and the police swore they were unaware of this going on.
for 20+ years a business had worked in their town but no police or city council had any idea what the business was about.
So is this town better off now, we feel sorry for the 13 year old girl, but she could have ended up in worse places. where is she now, walking the streets of Boston, at least she had food and clothing up here a warm and safe to work.--- Once into the profession for a child that age, almost impossible to get out of it.
