The editor of the Buffalo Beast blustered his way into a call with Wisconsin State Governor Scott Walker on Tuesday by claiming that he was Billionaire David Koch, sworn enemy of environmentalism and all progressive causes and more or less the Darth Vader of the effort to destroy America's cleantech competitiveness.

It's important to note that no one has independently corroborated the veracity of the following recordings, but the level of arcane detail contained in the call, as well as the timbre of the purported Walker's voice, indicate it's the real deal. While some producer at CNN is breaking his or her neck trying to prove this is the real thing, you can listen to it in its entirety on YouTube, and we've provided snippets below.

NY is a one-party-consent state, which means that only one party to a call needs to know it's being taped. No THIRD party can tape, but you can tape your boyfriend threatening to kill you in a phone rant.

A good way to have it, IMO. So there was no law broken in Murphy taping the call.

I'm pretty sure it can be a considered a federal crime as it is across state lines. Otherwise the FBI wouldn't need court orders to tape conversations in NY. That said, you're right, the Obumbler regime will never pursue it.

But I would not fight this "ZOMG it illegal" angle very hard. Valid evidence is still valid evidence and claim exclusionary rules for this sort of thing would be tantamount to claiming you have something to hide.

The real point is: there's nothing to hide here. Nothing Walker said is indicative of a crime, unethical behavior or bad policy.
