Hidden healthcare cuts in Walker's budget bill?
« on: February 22, 2011, 06:43:34 PM »
I've been debating the WI budget bill with a relative and she brought up hidden cuts to healthcare and some other things that are in the bill. I'm doing some searching now online and I'm finding some Leftist opinions about the matter, but what do my friends on the Right think?

I've followed politics long enough to know to never take anything as it seems. A "cut" might be a reduction in increased spending, or an elimination of unnecessary spending. Does anyone know if that's the case here and have any links to official information on this?

Work is wearing me out (not a bad thing after being so long laid off) and being sick on top of it means I'm only going to have a few minutes left before I tire of being upright, so any help is appreciated :)

I kind of remember hearing something about cuts to BadgerCare but I can't find anything other than from leftwing sources, except for something from the election from Politifact, which I don't know if they have a bias.

In that one, Walker's election plan was to limit how long families could be on BadgerCare.

Oh yeah, and this isn't breaking news.

I'd have thought it belonged in Breaking News since it's about something that's in the news now, but my latest fever must've scrambled my brain a tad. Apologies :)

But yeah, that's all I hear, too; I'm holding out on my response until I can find some more facts about this allegation, but if it were true, then why aren't all the protesters complaining about health care cuts and whatnot? Their silence on something so hidden and insidious is deafening...

Screw it, I'm going to ask her for some links to these allegations. I just tried checking Politifact and I didn't find anything at all about any so-called health care cuts in the budget bill. I'm not calling it yet, but this smells like another Democrat scare-tactic to me.

Liberals define a "funding cut" as ordering a $100 steak then opening their wallets and finding only a $5 bill.

They then call you a fascist is you refuse to give them the other $95.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Well, I asked for something official to back up this claim; what I got was a link to a Left-wing website.

Apparently, according to the site, the WI Legislative Fiscal Bureau that some hidden provision buried deep in the budget bill would give Walker's administration unprecedented power to make changes to Medicaid and so forth. No links to official text of the bill, no quotes from the bill, just a claim.

Is it me or is this just more of the same old, same old from the Left? Whip up fear amongst Democratic citizens with scare-mongering and the always-reliable stereotype of Republicans as evil, pollution-happy, money-hungry misanthropes. Same as when I began taking a serious interest in politics in the early-mid '90s; different year, same bullshit.
