A man was shot dead at a Latvian cinema after eating his popcorn too loudly during a screen of Black Swan, according to reports. Police said they had arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of shooting a 42-year-old fellow audience member who later died of his wounds.

The conflict took place as the credits rolled during a screen of the Oscar-nominated film "Black Swan", according to police in the Baltic state.

Witnesses told the Latvian news agency Leta that it arose over how loudly the deceased man was eating his popcorn.

Gun-crime is relatively rare in Latvia, a European Union nation of 2.2 million.

The shooting occurred on Saturday evening in the central multiplex cinema in the Latvian capital, Riga, at the end of the psychological thriller about a ballet dancer who loses her mind succumbing to pressure to perform

Really, Mr Moron?  Because I haven't heard "about some crazy guy with a gun" until I read this story today.  Probably the last time I heard "about some crazy guy with a gun" was when Congresswoman Giffords was shot.

Are you listening to an mp3 loop of shootings?

Much of it happens in the ghetto where there are strict gun laws. Does NYC & Detroit ring a bell?

I have honestly thought of it at theaters before.  I have issues with listening to people eat.  Now I just make sure I sit as far away from people as possible and wear ear plugs.

I hate it too.  I used to work with this one kid that was constantly reading books with titles like 'Power' and 'How To Make Friends and Influence People'.  If he wanted to impress people, he could have learned to eat with his mouth closed and save himself a lot of trouble.

And here I thought only people who shot others in movie theaters were the ones who got pissed at people yakking on cell phones.  Yes, comp, that was sarcasm.

Seriously, comp--quit being such a tool.

I think it was the movie that pushed him over the edge.  And it must have been Europe if men were going to see a movie about ballerina's :lmao:

I find baby crying and cell phone talking in a movie theater or any public place annoying.

The crazy thing about gun laws is that most of the people breaking them live in low-income areas (drive-bys, drug killings, etc.).  The funny thing about that is this.....every election these same areas light up blue on election maps.

Weird, huh?

Weird, huh?

I darn near got beat up at a movie when I asked the family in front of me to keep their kids from standing on the seats and blocking my view.  Darn but the parents went  off on me, scared the hell out of me.

We moved our seats, lucky that there were empty seats to move to.

A sold out house is a bitch, way back going to see Jaws a full house and the man sitting next to me was not a fan of sharks.  Poor man he became so scared he grabbed my knee not the arm rest and squeezed very hard. I elbowed him in the gut but the man was so scared he never felt a thing as he was crushing my bones in his fear.  I finally dumped my soda on his head and wow that dude was a raving lunitic.

I just looked at him and said EXCUSE me and limped out of the theater at the end.  Now when we attend a seated event I try to get an isle seat and put hubby next to me to put up with the conduct of those seated next to him.
