Teenagers humiliating America's homeless

http://www.irishcentral.com/story/ent/manhattan_diary/t...

The subway train pulls into Times Square and it stalls there. It's not unusual: crime, crumbling infrastructure or the mentally ill stop the MTA in its tracks in New York City much more often these days.

Usually you just shrug and you wait. But yesterday was a little different. As we stood in the crowded train I noticed a group of teenagers pointing eagerly at someone on the platform. They couldn't contain their amusement so I looked out to see what was going on.

I saw a mentally ill African American man, about 60, in a cheap blue track suit, who was clearly in distress. He was homeless and although was standing in one place his entire body was convulsing, his arms flailing wildly, as though something was on him that he couldn't throw off.

It was pathetic and frightening. It never occurred to me that it could also be entertainment.

3. Teenagers are cruel

not just to the homeless but to everyone.

Which, not for nothing, but he's right. Of course, our favorite iPhone-having Buick-dweller screeches to a halt long enough to shit on Drale.

4. It's the culture

not necessarily the teenagers themselves. If they're raised to look down on homeless people, that they're just lazy bums who won't work for a living, of course they're going to have contempt and disdain for them.

10. Yes, just ignore it, because it is, afterall, quite CUTE.

For someone who has no house, Bobbo has an awful lot of hearts....

Maybe the teenagers thought the man was making up some kind of new dance?

I remember a bus tour of New York City in the early 60s. It went through the usual tourist sites, like Times Square and Chinatown, but what I remember most was the slow cruise through the Bowery. I have no idea if it's still like that, but it was an amazing zoo. We were plastered to the bus windows, speechless. For kids who had never seen a real life wino up close, it was fantastic. Bums were sleeping in doorways and on the sidewalk all over the place. No Buicks.

Notice that the person is declared to be homeless but not once is any evidence provided to support that claim.

The Dying Insect?
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

I agree.  She admitted to me in a PM that she tried starting a website, because she had a dream 20 years ago about helping the homeless.   :bawl: :bawl:

Then, she asked me to help in building her website.    :bs: :loser:  :banghead:

I detest her dishonesty by saying it's she who is homeless living in a car.  Of course, this is just my speculation.  I believe she is a true advocate, but just doesn't have the knowledge or skills in how to really help.
Giving money and power to Democrats is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys--

Ya get towed in NYC if ya leave a POS like that parked around the corner!

I'm surprised they weren't described as white, right wing cracka teens, myself. Maybe this ain't a bouncy, huh? More like left wing "crack" babies, ya think?

It's NYC.  Kids growing up there have seen street people, who AREN'T necessarily homeless, acting weird all their lives.
