4. You and I know that, DU knows that, but most of those
Righties don't get it. And they don't realize how they've benefitted from unions even if they don't belong to one.
Yeah yeah and I'm tired of this simpleminded shit, too. It goes hand-in-hand with the dumbass argument that you have to love government and socialism because it brought you public highways, police services and blah blah blah.
I've got nothing against unions in principle. People have a right to free association and to engage in collective bargaining with their employers, and there's no question in my mind that unions have contributed to some constructive laws regarding things like child labor, workplace safety, etc.
It's a matter of
degree, and you'd think that moonbats with their professed ability to do "nuance" would get that. Just because some good things come out of an institution does not mean it receives carte blanche to do anything it wants. Unions can go too far just like governments can, and when those unions represent workers that are compensated by taxpayers we have the right to stand up and say enough is enough.
When unions representing workers in the private sector cause prices to go up, we are free to take our business elsewhere to non-unionized vendors or those with unions with more modest demands. With government there is no choice except the ballot box. Wisconsonites exercised their choice in electing officials to rein in expenses including public payrolls. Time to deal with it.
