CBS News' Lara Logan Sexually Assaulted During Egypt Protests
« on: February 15, 2011, 03:28:03 PM »

On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a "60 Minutes" story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.

In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.

There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

What the hell was a pretty woman like that doing in the middle of that mess???  CBS should have hired Janet Reno as a foreign correspondent for that job!  He would NEVER get raped!

I normally wouldn't place blame on a woman for the way she is dressed. Well, not in a Westernized country anyway.  Seeing that picture, it's a wonder she wasn't stoned for being a harlot by their standards.

Oh no, I never blame sexual assault victims.  She was doing her job.  I question the wisdom of her BOSS for putting her in that position.

Have you seen any other female dressed like that surrounded by Muslims ?  The only time I've seen women reporters dressed like that is when they are doing a story from a room of soundstage over there.

Exactly.  To Muslims, she was 3/4 naked.

Not entirely...some of the journalists are so far left they don't even count themselves as Democrats anymore.

I notice Islamic culture is more prone to deviance and psychopathy. Rape is usually motivated by sexual dominance, not sexual pleasure.

A common meme in American social service provider circles, but it ignores the fact that the two things are not actually separate in the minds of most of the offenders, and even then it is limited to societies fully subscribing to the modern Western cultural ethos of how women should be treated, and what behaviors are acceptable for sexual gratification.  It's a construct that has no meaning in the Arab world or anywhere else that does not have a European/North American culture (Which includes some particular mainly-urban districts in both Europe and North America).

Arab Muslims perception of women is different from the West. Also, women are considered property and I would not be all that surprised if they are really sex starved. Homosexuality is quite pervasive in the Muslim world.

Dammit to hell in a handbasket.   :banghead:  I am sorry that she had this experience and hope for her full recovery.  But.............

How the hell CBS and Ms. Logan could have missed the point that there are inheirent dangers diddling around a square, in the middle of protests, especially ones led by muslims is beyond me.  Shame on them for stupidity.  For shame.

Well when you walk into an unstable situation and you stand around thinking that because you're an American media personality your safe from harm.

It's heinous that she went through this and that the perps walked away bit there's nothing that can be done now about it. One would think that after years of reporting in war zones that CBS would have something better then locals pulling security for their people.

If the ignorant SOB's would spend just a little time studying Islam and Muslims this wouldn't have happened. Instead, they send the Dallas cheerleaders over there and throw them to the wolves.

Blame CBS and ignorant liberalism.
