I think that is close to Texacon.  Small world.

30 miles by road .... 25 by lake.

Yup, Lake Livingston is the second largest in the state.  Roughly 100,000 acres of impounded water.  I LOVE it here.

The bridge across the middle of the lake is 2 miles long.  South of that the lake is between 5 and 7 miles wide depending on how you measure it.  It is roughly 50 miles from the top of the lake (hwy 19 bridge) to the bottom ... at the dam.

I think the USN can operate in there  :lmao: the bridge we crossed was only 2 lanes. and they had a lotta wrecks on it including some that went over and into the lake

Same bridge.  Seems like someone dies on that bridge every couple of years.  It's a little better now since they don't allow fishermen to park on the shoulder.

Uh, I dunno, maybe it is because he lives in North Central Texas????  I ain't talking NORTH NORTH Central Texas, where you are, just North Central Texas, where we are.  It isn't much to look at, really.  Comparatively speaking anyway.

I did some work for BP up in the Texas panhandle a few years back (feel free to BS me if that isn't considered "North-Central Texas" enough).  A little town northeast of Amarillo called Dumas.  I could never figure out if the name of the town was pronounced "Dumb ass" or "Doom us". :lmao:

There is a guy down south of us here that runs a business called "Dum Ass" tacos.  I think he's from that region ... don't know why.

Probably because it's a great place to be from.  Not necessarily a great place to be, but a great place to be FROM.  :-)

I was stationed in El Paso--FT Bliss--for two years with 2d Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment.  It was interesting country.  I'm used to green and hilly, kinda like the Adirondacks, and when I got down there, I was saying to myself:  "You ****ed up.  This is brown and flat!"
