Hell on Wheels: Is there no end to the stream of traffic insults?

from the Seattle Times:

Hell on Wheels: Is there no end to the stream of traffic insults?
Even though traffic levels are generally down because of the recession, our streets feel meaner. Faster-paced lifestyles, angst about the economy, more distractions, less civility, a glut of downtown paving projects — it all adds up to more bile for many of us.

By Bob Young

EVERYONE'S GIVING me the finger.

Driving or walking, doesn't seem to matter. Men and women, they're both putting the "ass" back in passive-aggressive.

The collective rise in blood pressure plays out in all kinds of ways: A neurosurgeon clubs another driver with a metal thermos; the head of the Cascade Bicycle Club gets fired, in part, for not leashing his bulldog lobbyist; one of my editors stalks a guy who cut her off and hectors him in a grocery store.

Even though traffic levels are generally down because of the recession, our streets feel meaner. Faster-paced lifestyles, angst about the economy, more distractions, less civility, a glut of downtown paving projects — it all adds up to more bile for many of us. ..........(more)

The complete piece is at: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/pacificnw/2014111...

I bring this over for ONE post.

4. I collect cars.

Every time I take out one of my Benz (whether classic or new) I get a highly elevated level of shit from other drivers. So many drivers act like Mercedes owners feel some kind of entitlement. They will actually say it to my face.

I can drive a '36 Packard Phaeton and women blow kisses and guys are waving at me.

I drive my daily driver - a '90 560 SEL - and people **** with me. Four-way stops, cutting in front of me on the freeway, everything.

The Packard is worth at least $150K, the Benz is probably not worth the money I spent to have it painted.

Figure that shit out.

Sounds like a really unfriendly city.  I can't remember the last time a driver me the one finger salute.

Not if I can avoid it. People are nicer when I end up on their lawns then when I'm driving the speed limit on the highway. Besides it's only ever happened twice:)

Seriously, who needs to go faster then 110kph?

I probably need to go faster than that but I'm not sure.

About 70MPH, the speed limit on a large portion of the highways here. I should have posted it in mph anyway.

I don't think I have ever been flipped off.

I have once.  I don't know why, but some "lady" pulled up to me at a stop light, started blowing the horn, and flipped me off when I looked her way.

I blew her a kiss, pissed her off even more.   :rotf:

Solution: Add a turret and twin 50's to the top of your vehicle.

Depending on which state you are in, going the speed limit and holding up traffic can get you pulled over for creating a hazardous condition on the road.

I am crediting this post as at least a two-fer.  1. He tells a truth.  If you drive a Benz you really do get a more shit than if you drive an '86 Skylark or Honda.  2.  He basically gives the big MFS ( :bigbird: ) to the hypocrites at the dump by telling them he has that kind of scratch while making them feel sorry he is being persecuted for it.

I seriously want to go to court over that ticket.

"How do you plead?"

"Well, you're honor, I don't know.  I'm confused.  The officer pulled me over while I was doing 76 in a 65, and I was so upset I didn't really listen to what he said, and I came in here expecting to plead guilty for speeding, and now it looks like I'm in trouble for not going fast enough.  Maybe I need a lawyer after all."
