We have in the States had a problem with this for 50 years. Not to just sheds but our homes and property.
New York, a new tenant from another state was waiting for his hand gun registerion to go through and one night he awoke to find a stranger going into his child's bedroom. He shot the creep crawlie and was sued and darn near went to prison for defending his home with an at that time an unregistered weapon.
Some states will lock YOU up if someone who has mental problems breaks into your home and you shoot them.---Like in the middle of the night you are to sit a stranger down that is in your home and talk to them----YAH rightly folks. I am sure there must be a law that says all adults must be able to diagnose mental problems of thieves in the night.
Who can forget the young girl that had been threatened by a gang in NYC and given a switch blade for protection Kittey Geneses ? or some other. Anyway she was raped and beaten by 5-6 gang members but the point of LAW THAT SAID SHE WAS CARRYING AN UNLAWFUL WEAPON AT THE TIME PUT HER AT FAULT.
IN SOME States we were told if a stranger were coming inside a window at night to shoot them and drag them into the house.
Hawaii had some interesting laws in the 1970's we the military depends were warned about the State laws when we first arrived.
If we whose husbands were out to sea awoke and found someone in our bed room or the kids bedroom, if the Prep was armed with only a knife and we shot them, we would be charged with using Excessive force.
Laws change from year to year in all states on what we can do to defend ourselves.
Not to mention in the UK a 80 year old man was arrested for standing on his home steps and waving his cane at a bunch of kids that had harassed his wife coming home from a bus stop. The kids were all under 13 or so and were trying to steal her grocery's.
This old man who was a decorated war hero and lived through the horror of London now was charged with a SEX Crime.
He in high fear for his wife had yelled at the kids that " If you touch my wife, I will stick this cane right up your ass."
This is everywhere, now, the ass-holes have the rights and the victims go to jail. So we in America carry guns, bats canes for protection and have to be ready to be victomised by others and the courts.
Screw it, I would rather go to jail for protecting my family then to visit their grave once a week.
