I will make a prediction now... we enter the violent stage of this

it really depends how things go and what sides upper echelons take... just how violent.

We will see something really ugly now.

Wow, really going out on a limb there.  50-50 chance.

And probably one based on little direct knowledge, like most of the predictions we've heard about Egypt.

Ya think? How long would it take for some "know it all twat" talkin' to us like this, before we showed it the door? I mean, gimme a frikkin' break! DUmmies must be gluttons for punishment!

The AllenTownJerk tried it, and even after we gave him the benefit of the doubt, he was gone in a matter of hours. I need to point out, we never tombstoned him, he just walked away with his tail between his legs. Though I think he was here for street cred for another site, it didn't go as he had planned. he thought he was goin' to baffle us with his bull shit, and it didn't quite work out that way.

Amazing it took this long. I know I sure as hell enjoy bein' talked down to like a 15 year old to a 3 year old. That's about how she sounds, even though I'm sure she is in her mid fourties!

I'll make a few predictions.

In two years Egypt will be ruled by islamists.

In two years Egypt will be hostile to western interests.

In two years Egypt will be having border skirmishes with Israel.

In two years there will be a conservative president due in large part to the loss of Egypt.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

And so it begins, the preparation for another coup
so once it succeeds (yes kiddies, we need to plan for the worst and hope for the best), what are YOU going to do?
And yes, there are many ways that you can see this happening.

These include the polls... create a race where one does not exist.

Oh and the perception that the change is the party in power... how inane that is, is besides the point

So start planning... and yes I assume they will be able to steal it

100. and you know that there was absolutely no violence and threats

of violence behind the corridors of power how?

I have no way to know that, but the body language from Suleiman told me some of that DID GO ON.

Violent phases mean just that there is violence, not where.

I have no way to know how many threats and rumors of threats happened or did not happen. Neither do you.

BUT, there is a rhythm to these things... and when the leader says I ain't gonna anywhere, when it is obvious they lost, there is usually violence, Sometimes you know of it (Caucescu) sometimes you don't... macros.

But...but..I was right.  They were following the rhythm and not the script. :loser:

February 11th 1979 under a weak foreign policy US president, Iran goes to the mullahs.

February 11th 2010 under a weak foreign policy US president, Egypt goes to the mullahs.

I don't believe in coincidences.

76. You do realize that most folks are catching up

and do not know all you know, right? Most people think Jeffersonian Democracy, in the US JAYSUS it is that ****ing basic.

And actually a BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM with a PM, a nominal president and proportional representation has been mentioned a few times. But I am sure, since you have been following this, that you KNEW THAT already. This is quite alien to Americans by the ****ing way.

79. Most Americans I know are pretty informed about what a democracy

is supposed to be. And you'd be surprised by the numbers of Americans who are very well educated about systems of government in other parts of the world. If you are talking the Fox/Beck/Palin fringes, then that's a different story. But people on Du eg, are pretty well informed from my experience.

107. Perhaps the poster isn't busy lecturing, hectoring, and condenscending

and thus has time to have actual two-sided conversations with people, thereby discovering that many Americans - the ones you are so desperate to hold in contempt based entirely on their nationality - are often well-informed or at the least curious about the world around them.

That they may disagree with your views does not make them stupid, or afraid of "book learnin'," or whatever nonsense you're nattering on about between regurgitating your latest Google finds in a sad attempt to make yourself relevant and impress the lickspittles you hang on your every facile, half-baked analysis of whatever hot-button issue you've latched onto this week.
