He had an enormous ego, though, and he had some general good looks, but there really wasn't a terribly large muscle in his head, so he learned to use his voice, a smattering of rhetorical skills, and some charisma to move himself up in the political branch of the world of entertainment, since he knew instinctively that he was not really good at acting, other than reading lines, sometimes so obviously that his producer bosses cringed.

Because his inherent skills taught him that looking someone in the eyes, pretending to give a shit, and honing dramatic cues for more than just reading those stupid lines made him a lot more powerful in the long run, he had no problem in learning to be a grifter--all politicians are grifters, some worse than others.

He found being a politician was actually something he felt good at. He had all the fame and adulation he wanted, so now he started to bank on his power, and see how far to the top he could go. And go to the top he did. And millions of Americans were brainwashed into believing that this actor, this travesty of a human being, this truly apathetic asshole had changed the landscape of the USA, and brought people like James Dobson, Karl Rove, and their ilk out of the woodwork, raping the country, and selling us all down the river for a long time to come.

Hoping you're not resting in peace, mofo.

After watching so many of my friends die of AIDS while this person turned a blind eye to an epidemic, I have to say, although I would not wish that disease, (alzheimer's), on anyone, I found it poetic justice, or Karma, or whatever you want to call it, that a man who showed such thoughtless disregard for a population of Americns, that he should die exactly that way; thoughtless

If there is karma, you are screwed.

At 3 PM this afternoon, the Military channel will show a special on Ronald Reagan. I watched it last night. It definitely worth watching. Gave me chill bumps.

Pretty amazing these asshats don't, or won't, remember the shape this country was in when Regan took over as CEO. The, up to now that is, worst president in our nations history had ****ed things up so bad we had nearly 12% inflation.

DUmmies sure as hell enjoyed his economy uplifting and inflation solving policies just the same as the rest of us. Yet they will deny to their dyin' day he had anything to do with it.

Ingrates!

And don't even get me started how he stared down the commies and brought the Soviets to their knees, thereby freeing millions of people!

On the morning of June 5, 2004, I found myself at a hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles having breakfast with a friend shortly before my flight back to New Hampshire. Little did I know that at the same time, the man I admired most, had died just two miles from where I was sitting. Later, as I sat waiting to board my plane, a CNN news flash revealed that Ronald Wilson Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, was gone. My heart sank.

In 1981, when Reagan was inaugurated, I was a college student in Boston. Reagan was the second president I had voted for. Jimmy Carter was the first. After the misery of the Carter years, I was proud to have voted for Reagan, and I looked forward to the next four years, in the same way as those who had enthusiastically voted for John F. Kennedy in 1960. Of course, Kennedy's predecessor, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was no Jimmy Carter and he left office as the same hero who led the Allies to victory in Europe in World War II. But the country was ready for a change, and they got it in Kennedy. And we certainly got it in Reagan.

I was asked a few years after Reagan left office why I loved him so much. My answer was simple and it holds to this day. I was born in 1958, so I don't remember "I like Ike." One of my first memories was that of watching them bury Jack Kennedy after he was assassinated and how my mother wept for days. Less than three months later, I was with my family at his grave at Arlington National Cemetery, at that time a grave with a simple cross and a flame burning bright, surrounded by a white picket fence and lots of snow. My next memories are of body counts flashing on the nightly news as hundreds of American soldiers were killed each week in Vietnam. And I'll never forget the live broadcast of a South Vietnamese police captain shooting a Viet Cong soldier in the head and how that soldier fell to the ground. I remember the civil rights riots, the assassinations of Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy, the corruption that was Watergate and the resignation of Nixon. And I remember the oil crisis and the long lines at the gas pump. Finally, I remember the miserable economy of the last few years of the '70s, when interest rates on homes were double digits right along with inflation and unemployment. Then there was the Iranian Revolution and the two years our countrymen were held by radical Muslim fanatics. From my birth until 1981, there was little in the world to celebrate.

Onto the stage enters Ronald Reagan. It was not long after he became president that Americans, all Americans it seemed, raised the stars and stripes once again as they felt a sense of hope and pride that had not existed in almost two decades. Why did I like Reagan so much? Because for the first time in my life, I felt good about America and its future.

Less than three months after Reagan's death, I found myself back in Los Angeles, this time north to Simi Valley to pay my respects to him at his grave at his Presidential Library. It was a warm day and the sun was shining. I gave thanks to him for the way he made me feel and for all he did for America and I thanked God for giving him to us.

Ask anyone who was serving in the military when Reagan took office what he did for this country and their morale.  One of the best presidents this country has ever had. 

My fear is that we will never see anyone like him again.

President Reagan is the reason I'm a conservative.  I was 9 years old when he first took office, so he had quite an impact on my politically formative years.  Aside from how you may feel about Reagan as a President, nobody can deny that he was a great man.  He was the type of man that any young man should try to emulate.  He was the type of person that inspired men to be better men and boys to become good men.  I don't have many heroes in my life, but Ronald Wilson Reagan is certainly one of them.

All my horses are mares and they're temperamental just like women. They have their "time of the month" if ya catch my drift

I love my horses but a good mule that likes you will be more loyal than a dog. Even though you have to deal with the occasional 'donkey time' :-)

When a moose shows up out back, the horses run for cover, while the mules run out to challenge him/her to defend their pasture! Mules are very territorial and have been known to take on cougars and bears! Ya don't want to get in front of one when they do this either! Good way to get a mud puddle stomped in yer ass!!!
