DUmmies Discuss Cops With Tats And Grillz
« on: January 30, 2011, 05:15:01 PM »
In this thread the DUmbasses discuss a sheriff's department requiring professional appearance in their officers. For a big segment of the DUmp, "professional appearance" is fighting words. They hate being forced to wear those paper caps at Burger King.

Sheriff bans officers from having tattoos and gold teeth
Officers at a Florida police force have been told that they are not permitted to have visible tattoos or gold teeth.

The new policy at Broward Sheriff's Office also forbids piercings and 'body mutilation'.

It is believed that deputies at the Fort Lauderdale force with a gold-toothed grin will now have to pay to have the expensive dentistry removed if they are to keep their job.

Gold or platinum veneers for decorative reasons are strictly not allowed under the new rules, but officers who can prove they have caps or fillings for dental purposes will be permitted to keep them.

No. But you can have diamonds on the soles of your shoes.

yep, instead of worrying about how clean the guns are, they're gonna be wearing long sleeves in July/August/September, you know, the coolest months of the year in sweaty Floriduh.

29. i don't get that attitude of
i don't get to have it therefore i don't care that you lost it. ie:
so, i dont get to wear piercings therefore i dont care that you dont
so, i dont get vacations therefore i dont care that you lost yours
so, i dont get health care therefore i dont care that you lost yours
so, i dont get a raise therefore how dare you go on strike to get one
it's this defining what others should be allowed to have based on what you settled for. it's an attitude that i hear allot of that i dont get.
it's more of that saying 1st they came for..... etc. no offense to anyone but i think we need to stop responding that way. it fuels the race to the bottom.
what you say your boss just dropped your salary to 1$ a day? so, that's all I get.. such is life.

38. No, that's not really the point.
I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect professionals to maintain a professional appearance. Do you? I brought up the fact that I have to wear what I wear in response to the 'oh they'll be HOT in the summer' statement. M<y response is
that they will learn to cope with it just like I have.

Not being allowed to have visible tattoos or piercings is the least of the restrictions on a police officer's life. There are all sorts of restrictions on what you are allowed to do and who you are allowed to associate with. In other words, they even dictate who they can and cannot be friends with. That's part of being in law enforcement.

They just won't have a job with the sheriff's office. I live down here and have never seen a cop with gold teeth.

14. Telling someone they will lose their job if they use gold on their teeth or tattoo their skin
Is no different in principle than telling a woman she will lose her job if she gets pregnant.

In both cases the employer is restricting the right of autonomy over one's own body as a condition of employment.
Both are totally repugnant to the principle of "Land of the Free"

What part of that do you not understand?

Well, DUmmy Xicano, for many years I've felt that any good employee has the attitude that the company sort of owns his ass. I guess you'd call that restricting his autonomy over his body.

Uh...DUmmy..a "counter culture" police force sort of defeats the purpose of having a police force, doesn't it?

Uh...DUmmy Taitertots..there are lots of groups who shouldn't be represented on the police force. How about drug users? How about nitwits with gold grillz on their teeth? Should cops wear saggy uniform pants?

Most jobs, including office jobs, don't want to see your tattoos.  It looks kind of trashy having all of your tattoos hanging out when you're in a professional setting.  Just sayin'....

Even the military has cracked down on visible tattoos. Decorative veneers aren't allowed either, along with piercings. I remember back in the mid 80s a lot of Sailors were piercing their left ear. Most of the commands were coming down on them pretty hard.

The one primitive is right. The military does not want visible tattoos and the ones who already have them have been grandfathered. As far as the piercings the jewelery is the problem as it presents a safety hazard.

And I just find the gold teeth gross.

Not to mention being able to communicate in a professional manner. I was in on a phone interview the other day. We called the guy, whose resume was fairly impressive, at 10am EST. The guy knew he was going to get the call at 10am. (we went thru an employment agency)

He answered the phone "What up?".

I asked if I was speaking to xyz and he confirmed that he was xyz. I identified myself and told him thank you for the interest in the position, but someone that answers a phone interview call with "What up?" is not the kind of person we wish to hire and hung up.

And these people wonder why they can't get a job.

Gimme a break! Seems to me, our Military personnel are doin' it in the ****in' desert, I think our cops can manage in it Florida, the most even day to day climate in America! I know cops that would give their left nut to work there, even if they had to wear a ****in' parka!

The DUmmies have no concept of a professional appearance.
They think you should be able to cover yourself with tats, have hair down to your ass, and sport tie dyed t-shirts everywhere you go.

I still can't get past Taitortots.  The police force must exactly reflect all the demographics, oddities, weirdness, and quirks of the town and city?  So in his mind, the police force must have representative serial killers, drug addicts, drunk drivers, petty thiefs, grand larceny thiefs, check bouncers and wife beaters?

God, the DUmmies are dumb.

In the DUmp, that sentiment probably goes back to BJ Clinton saying he wanted his Cabinet to "look like America". Affirmative action is more important than competence. I never did understand what part of America resembles Janet Reno.
