"Wishing" for a revolution in the US in the light of Egypt is insulting to the Egyptian protestors

Their grievances are much, much different than what the average US citizen faces. We are nowhere close to where it is necessary for the populace to risk violence, disappearance or death to make a change. This is the Egyptians' movement, not ours.

You know what the DUmmy is right, we live in a virtual paradise here. Even with moonbats in control we still have it better than most of the world.

1. Because we can't want nice things too?

Is that the point?

If you earn it, you can have all the nice things you want until Obama decides you have enough.

Trust me people in third world countries would live like kings in the rural south.

101. Oddly, Melody was making dinner for her family

I can't afford to be 24/7 on DU.

And I disagree -- there is wrenching poverty here in the States. If you haven't seen it, you haven't lived it. Members of my family have.

Show me another country where the poor have big screen TVs, playstations, and dvd players but, want the govt to pay their heating bill.

102. Tell that to my cousin's neighbor

Her 6 month old was hospitalized for four weeks because they couldn't afford his formula. They were having to give him radically watered-down milk.
Oh, and they live in a trailer that was thrown away at a wrecking yard. They use a local toilet with carried-in water. They only survive because of food banks.

Yeah, living high on the hog here.

But no, we'll never have the kind of unrest Egypt has because we're more affluent (thanks to enough years of Democratic Presidents) on average, but there are
pockets of extreme poverty in the US. To think otherwise is to live in denial.

Maybe if you and your cousin reached in your pockets and helped them out I would think you may actually care about them.

9. We're not being oppressed by our government?

The Patriot Act, the corporations taking over the government, corruption in our own government, the poor, the unemployed, the uninsured?

I think we're way overdue for a revolution.

Nothing stopping you from trying one. I know you want other people to do it while you sit at DU and cheer them on.

You want to be oppressed? Book a ticket from Canada,Mexico,The Bahamas and when you get there tell us all about how free you and the population are assuming you can get an internet connection.

You really need to buy a clue.

But, they have the bestest health care in the world, just ask Mikey Moore.

51. Yup. And the Tea Party people love to talk about revolution, too.

Wouldn't that be just great.

:sarcasm:

The difference is our revolution is at the ballot box, and we are not trying to take wealth from other people we are trying to keep our own stuff that we earn.

96. Bullshit. The powers that be here in the U.S. won't rest until we all live in extreme poverty

and are at their mercy for jobs, food and shelter.

Those bastards are trying to steal everything that isn't nailed down including our Social Security!

Should we all just wait to be totally screwed over and are living in boxes under the overpass while eating cat food BEFORE we DO something to stop them?

I know you are meaning the repukes but, that is exactly what Obama and his gang is trying to do. Make us all poor together.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

They have no idea, hard to look at such willing fools and still respect that in this country they have a right to exist.

But they do and we have to overcome the idiocy at every election.

I call  :bs:.  The Wic program provides more than enough formula for a month; even if they're denied food stamps the baby still gets WIC.  They're selling their vouchers/stamps.

I dunno ... Has your "cousin's neighbor" tried out this novel concept called "Working for a living" ?

That reminds me. My sisters dogs aunties best friends brother is a no good loser as well. :whatever:

As for poverty - I doubt that a statistically significant proportion of the Western world has any idea whatsoever what real poverty is all about.

This is why regressive ideology is such a stupid ideology that loves to spread misery, if they think this problem in Egypt is so great? all they have to do is look toward Iran and see how that turned out, if a radical gets in there do they really think the Suez Canal won't be effected by this? how much misery will fall upon the American people when gas prices are $15 a gallon? what they're cheering could eventually have a devastating effect on the American people, but what do they care, that's probably their intent anyway with their cheering.

Exactly! Between WIC and foodstamps there was no excuse for waterin' down the baby's milk! I hope the parents are doin' 5 to 10 for felony child abuse!

Or so they would like to think anyway.

The actual outcome wouldn't be anywhere near what they think it would be.

It's never ended the way they think it will. they don't have the guns and if they did all of them would be and have been taken from them once they realize the lies they were told are in fact lies and they are not getting the pony and free everything they were promised. They usually figure this out on the way to the firing squad.

And yet, the child IS in the hospital, despite the 'Worst health care system in the industrialized world' and the 'Oppressive desires of corporatists and capitalists to grind everyone into poverty.'  Do you not see any contradiction in that window into your thought process, or is it just that you have gotten far too much spittle and drool on the glass in your marathon window-licking sessions?
