What I see IMHO, is that the terrorists are using the divide and conquer method, mercilessly pitting us against each other. However, as an American Citizen with dual citizenship, I do not mind helping our allies, who have helped us, like England, though the killing of innocents is a trajedy no matter where they are.

The Islamists aren't making Putin, the Kremlin, the GRU, etc, support Iran and Syria. That's old-time Russian expansionism and paranoia, and no one is making them be that way.

And Russia's behavior is only going to get worse in the near future, bet on it. Every time they start raking in the big bucks when the price per barrel of oil skyrockets, they immediately start plowing the money into unpleasant ways to screw with the United States.

Chechnya is a lot more complex for them to deal with than just nuking it, their whole reason for NOT doing that and for even giving a shit about it in general is that there is a large ethnic Russian population there. If it weren't for the Russkians there, I'm sure they'd love to make it glow for a thousand years.

Actually, the Somalis are big in Minneapolis.

And I'm frankly surprised that the Russians, who are as paranoid about security as anyone, keep getting hit. What that tells me is one of several things:

--We've been WAY lucky not to get hit again.
--We've got to be doing SOMETHING right. If it's classified, fine. I don't want to read about it in the NY Times.
--The Islamists can't reach as far and as deep as they used to.
--This is more a regional issue vis-a-vis Russia, whereas our issues are more global.

"We've been WAY lucky not to get hit again" is probably the best answer. I think we've dodged the last couple of attempted hits - the Times Square one and the Shoe Bomber among others, primarily because of "operator error". If those two had been more competent, and their timing just a tad different, I think the outcomes would have been quite different.

Is it possible that Russia gets attacked because they aren't providing or following through with their promises of technology, military equipment, etc, that they have made to Iran, Syria or specific terrorist groups?

That is a big part of it...but mainly it's just a lot easier for them to do things on the same continental landmass as the one where the terrorist center of mass is located, and in a country with a common long and largely-isolated border between the target and a lot of muj, and with that border being only roughly related to the actual ethnic distribution of both peoples.

It very definitely can happen here...it's just that there are much higher logistic hurdles to jump in order for them to do that.

I had a T-shirt with that logo on it back when I was a B-52 crew chief. Some limp wristed liberal tried to lecture me once when I was wearing it in a store about how inappropriate the shirt was. I believe my response to him was "piss off" or something along that line.
