Notice the quotes by Bill Hobby, former Lt. Governor.  I read this story and wanted to scream at my laptop screen.  Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees!  Texas is being flooded by illegal aliens on a daily basis and now our schools are full of their children.  The financial weight of providing them an education has bloated our educational budget beyond any sort of sustainable level.  Now, thanks to this bloated budget, we're forced to make cuts, but oh no, that's RACIST.

 :racist:

BS for making me cut and paste.

17% cut is lethal.   Dang.   The states are going over the cliff.   Completely unavoidable, and very necessary.

Cuts will be deep, but we will survive.

Notice how a good chunk of that are entitlement scholarships.  I'm raising 3 kids on a police officer's salary while married to a public school teacher, and we all know what sort of pay they rake in.  Given our salaries, none of my kids will qualify for any state scholarships based on income qualifications.  Nor will they qualify for any scholarships set aside for minorities.  We're on our own.  But somehow it's racist to CUT those budgets.  Hmmm

Maybe we should have all joined the KKK back in the ealy 60's.

We could have bought some bedsheets in pastel colors and then maybe we could have stopped the liberals at "EQUAL" and not at more equal and getting "MORE" equal everyday..
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Uh, no.  Not a fan of the KKK, nor their immediate counterparts (NAACP, LULAC, etc.)

I believe the inequality is taking care of itself.  We simply can't afford the entitlements, especially based on socio-economic factors or skin color.

I think you missed the sarcasm there, TC.  This kind of crap has been going on since I was a HS student back in NM...if you're a minority with a pulse you can damn near guarantee someone will be paying your way through a state school, but if you're a white kid with a 3.7 GPA and a 1400 SAT/32 ACT (like me), tough shit.

But just in case you DIDN'T get the sarcasm:

“Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian.”  -Henry Ford
