My daughter's HEALTH class
 My daughter who is a sophomore in high school has to take health, ok fine no problem. We have no problem talking about sex, drugs rock and roll, what ever just pops into her head which is awesome. It may be because of the Aspergers no filter thing, but I think its great for whatever reason, especially because it is an example my younger daughter can follow and see that she can talk to me about anything and I will not freak out.

Well this health class in a PUBLIC SCHOOL, is teaching ABSTINENCE based curriculum. My daughter has come home with the following gems:

Did you know birth control causes cancer?

Condoms don't protect you from STD's or Aids

Plus she had to do the baby project where she brought home a robot baby that cried and needed to be changed because that was going to teach her to wait to have sex.

So daughter and I have had many sit downs about this class. First she wanted a purity ring (because she liked the Jonas Brothers I suspect) I told her, if you don't want to have sex you don't need a stupid ring to show it. And I was in the awkward position of being a mother telling her young daughter that she may not want to wait till she is married to have sex!! But I want her to come talk to me before she does and we had the big talk about love and mutual respect and relationships. THen she asked me about condoms and where you buy them and I said just about anywhere and then she wanted to go buy some just to see the look on the cashiers face when she bought them and she wanted to hand them out at school. I told her that probably wouldn't be accepted very well but I think she is a pretty awesome person and I am proud of her for being so strong in her beliefs at 15!

The capper was yesterday when she came home with these beauties.

Black boys get their girlfriends pregnant, take crack, leave them and then end up in prison.

White boys get their girlfriends pregnant, abuse alcohol and SOMETIMES leave their girlfriends but are more likely to marry them.

the teacher also said that kids needed a strong male female couple for roll models.

My darling daughter raised her hand and said "what about two men or two women?" The teacher said "well I have my opinions about that but we wont discuss them"

I am just ranting because MY TAX DOLLARS are paying for a class that teaches racist and homophobic things to be taught and I am incredibly pissed off about it. Unfortunately, I live in a RED RED RED part of NH so its not like I can get any support when I complain. And I HAVE complained. FOrtunately the term is almost over but it just SUCKS that this is being taught in MY school district!!!!

Take a long walk off a short pier! Better yet, just move a coupla hundred miles south and you will fit right in with the free sex crowd! You'll be able to show your 15 year old what assless chaps are and how becoming they are to wear in public in front of infants and toddlers!

I do know one thing asshat, abstinence is 100% successful in preventin' gettin' knocked up! Did ya tell her that? Of course you didn't! You so much as told her to try!

I don't support abstinence based health classes because expecting teenagers not to have sex now is impossible, I don't however believe the majority of that post.

I think shes exaggerating things, why not just take your kid out of the class if it's an issue?

Sounds like her daughter was either feeding her a blenderized version of everything the teacher said plus everything her classmates said, or was just spinning her up to watch the pretty flames shooting out of her ears.

To be a good liar, you need to actually believe the lie yourself.  Do you think they believe this stuff they make up?  Teachers hands are so tied to curriculum these days, if any teacher uttered any of that crap, especially the black male/white male comments they would be fired fired fired.

Hormonal birth control causes an elevated risk of developing certain cancers.

Condoms are not 100% foolproof at preventing pregnancy or infection with AIDS or any other STD. The only way to be certain that you do not get an STD is to not have sex.

My public school also taught abstinence.  If you want your daughter sleeping around, let her know she can... but make sure she uses condoms or BC because the rest of America doesn't want to raise her baby.

Sweetheart, I lived in parts of CA which are more conservative than any part of this state.  I can tell you that there isn't a district in this state which pushes the kind of crap you're trying to peddle off as fact.

Even though it's a :bouncy: IMO, I'd like to point out the hypocrisy in that statement because the Daughter by purchasing condoms and wanting to give them out is basically shoving her view down others throats and the Mother is proud of that YET she doesn't want an abstinence view presented to her Daughter.
